    FT: Cardiff 32-28 Glasgow

After Edinburgh's historic win in a Durban downpour, Glasgow's Cardiff collapse ended this day of rugby in disappointing fashion.

With a few rounds left of the United Rugby Championship, Scotland's two sides sit in fourth and fifth position in the table - with Edinburgh two points behind their Glasgow rivals. Told you those bonus points would be important.

That deciding 1872 Cup fixture in May might be very, very interesting.

    Until next time!

    A capitulation in Cardiff.

Glasgow made the best possible start to the second-half with Sebastian Cancelliere's intercept try, but the visitors then went into their shells and produced very little rugby of note, after controlling the majority of the first-half.

The Warriors then became creators of their own downfall, conceding penalty after penalty to allow Cardiff back into the game. That said, credit must go to Willis Halaholo - man of the match on the night - who seized the initiative to overturn the scoreline.

A lack of game management didn't help Danny Wilson's side, who at least head back up the road with two losing bonus points.

Glasgow... it's been chalk and cheese compared to the team that played in the first forty minutes.

Huge penalty goes Cardiff's way, right in front of the posts and... Jarrod Evans splits the posts.

Glasgow have conceded penalty after penalty in this second-half, barely getting out of their own half at all. That's surely the ball game.

Cardiff could have killed the game off there.

They win the ball back in Glasgow territory, roll forward and then Evans goes wide, where Sebastian Cancelliere makes another interception at a vital moment.

The hosts look a lot more likely to win at this stage, but it's still just a one-point game.

Zander Fagerson is also off with young Murphy Walker replacing him. Glasgow have taken some key players off - how will the substitutes respond?

Willis Halaholo is off after a simply superb second-half showing. Matthew Morgan replaces him with Hallam Amos moving into the centre.

  7. Replacementpublished at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

Danny Wilson rings the changes, looking to get his side back in front.

Johnny Matthews, Jamie Dobie and Duncan Weir are on, replacing Fraser Brown, Ali Price and Ross Thompson.

Glasgow concede another penalty from the throw-in. They cannot keep hold of the ball in this second-half.

    CARDIFF RE-TAKE THE LEAD!

After about ten minutes of pressure, and some heroic last-ditch defending from Glasgow, Cardiff finally decide to go wide and Theo Cabango bursts onto the ball and through the defence, just about holding onto the ball before holding off three tacklers to score.

Jarrod Evans scores the conversion and Cardiff go ahead with twelve minutes remaining!

Twenty minutes to go and this is anyone's game. Where will the momentum swing next?

    And Cardiff do take advantage!

The hosts almost scored after Jason Harries chip over the top. Glasgow weathered the storm but only briefly, with Willis Halaholo stepping between Oli Kebble and Ross Thompson to dart over wide in the corner.

Jarrod Evans just about slots the kick and it's now a six-point game!

  11. Replacementpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Cardiff 15-28 Glasgow

Glasgow make a change - Ryan Wilson is off, replaced by Kiran McDonald who will pack down at blindside for the time being.

The Warriors will be looking to seep every second out of the clock whilst they are down to 14 men.

Cardiff come forward, smelling blood with the man advantage.

James Botham darts forward in the red scrum-cap... but he's blown for the knock-on, on the line! Ross Thompson will boot the drop-out away.

An extremely messy phase of play comes to an end, which started with a superb line-break from Willis Halaholo.

Sebastian Cancelliere is having a failed interception looked at - a possible deliberate knock-on is the question. And AJ Jacobs finds him guilty! That is incredibly harsh.

Glasgow are vicious when they carry, bombing forward with real purpose.

Ali Price tries a globetrotter-style pass that falls to floor, where Rhys Carre thumps it down the pitch, like a centre-half wellying it out over the stand.

Glasgow then make their first change - the peroxide blonde hair of Oli Kebble packs down in the scrum, replacing Jamie Bhatti.

It wasn't sloppy from Ben Thomas, Cancelliere just gambled and took the chance really well.

The best start for Glasgow and Sebastian Cancelliere has his second of the game!

Cardiff looked to spread the play before the Argentinian intercepted Ben Thomas' pass and ran it from about his own 22-metre line! Superb gas from the winger and Glasgow do extend their lead!

Ross Thompson adds the extras from out wide, and the Warriors have their bonus point try!

Without a shadow of a doubt, Glasgow deserve to lead. It's been very entertaining to watch. Cardiff started exceptionally well and deserved the score. But for the next 25 minutes, Glasgow completely controlled the game. Luckily for Cardiff, they only got three tries! Ali Price and Ross Thompson are pulling the strings.

Glasgow weren’t just slow out of the blocks – they stumbled out of them.

But as soon as Sebastian Cancelliere crossed, they awoke. Crashing into collisions, pin point accuracy with the set piece, they looked unstoppable in a twenty minute spell.

But then they allowed Cardiff back into it, with Theo Cabango capitalising on loose ball deep in Glasgow territory.

Whilst the defence of both sides left a fair bit to be desired, it was an exciting half of rugby to watch.

And they almost had it! Sam Johnson poked through, the ball was hacked towards the line by Sebastian Cancelliere, but James Botham came from nowhere to pick up and dot down on his own line.

Heroic defending from the Wales international.
