  1. Postpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 5-14 Edinburgh

With 15 minutes to go, the Sharks need a converted score and a penalty to overtake their visitors.

The stats show they've dominated territory and possession but they've been unable to turn those advantages into points. Meanwhile, Edinburgh have been opportunistic in attack, picking the Sharks off when the opportunity has eventually arisen.

    Sharks 5-14 Edinburgh

The Sharks now change their entire front row, who must be knackered after a real shift in the first-half that ultimately came to very little. The Mchunus (Khutha and Ntuthuko) are on at either side of the scrum, with Kerron van Vurren now the meat in the sandwich.

Edinburgh also swap Lee-Roy Atalifo for Luan De Bruin, and Connor Boyle for Ben Muncaster.

  3. Replacementpublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 5-14 Edinburgh

Changes for both sides, with the Sharks' big name coming off - captain Siya Kolisi is replaced by James Venter. Boeta Chamberlain is also on for Anthony Vormlink.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh replace Jamie Hodgson with Glen Young.

    What a response! Emiliano Boffelli!

Ben Muncaster starts it off with a superb break. Ben Vellacott keeps up the pace with quick ball to Blair Kinghorn before setting the Argentinian free with a brilliantly timed pass. The Argentinian slides across in the spray, and dries himself off to convert from in front of the posts.

  5. try

Trypublished at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 5-7 Edinburgh

Edinburgh's luck finally runs out as Thomas 'the Tank' du Toit crosses from a few inches out.

The Sharks had been desperately unlucky not to trouble the scoreboard until now, but their persistence finally pays off as du Toit picks and goes, battering his way over. Unsurprisingly, Bosch's kick is wide by a distance.

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

Edinburgh are like a cat with nine lives.

Another Sharks maul rumbles towards the line, from some distance out as well, but as Ox Nche breaks off the pack and looks set for an easy score, he spills to ball forward.

  7. Kick-offpublished at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

The second-half is underway, with no improvement in the conditions.

If Edinburgh hold on for victory, they'd be the first Northern Hemisphere club side to win in South Africa this season. A moment of history for Mike Blair's side, potentially.

  8. Half-timepublished at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

Not the most enthralling half of rugby you'll ever see, with both sides trying to play the conditions as best they can.

It's so wet and slippery out there, neither team are keen on keeping the ball in hand, living in fear of spilling in a dangerous area.

Edinburgh have gotten lucky that Curwin Bosch's boot has been so wayward, missing two penalties that he might have gotten on a drier day.

At least Mike Blair's side were clinical in their only forward venture, with Blair Kinghorn searing through enemy lines to score.

  9. Sin-binpublished at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

Pierce Phillips goes into the bin on the brink of half-time as Edinburgh continue to give away penalties, with the second-row the latest to infringe.

The visitors again get out of jail though, as Dave Cherry rips it viciously from Sharks' arms and Edinburgh boot into touch.

  10. Postpublished at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

    Another massive let-off for Edinburgh.

They're pinged on their own 22-metre line, dead in front of the posts, and Curwin Bosch slices his penalty past the up-rights. Very poor from the fly-half.

  11. Postpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

An almighty effort from Jamie Hodgson holds up the maul and the penalty goes against the Sharks for obstruction!

A big let-off from Edinburgh after letting the Sharks deep into their own waters.

  12. Postpublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

All the momentum is with the home side as they spill their way forward with a penalty advantage all the while.

Curwin Bosch kicks for touch and the South Africans will try and rumble their way over the line from five metres.

  13. Postpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

The Sharks win it against the head again.

There's a few heated words exchanged after, but it's fair to say that Ox Nche is making light-work of Lee-Roy Atalifo - not easily done, considering he weighs 21 stone.

  14. Postpublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

These scrums are taking an absolute age in the South African humidity.

Another one goes down and the players, and referee, wait for the decision... it's given to the Sharks but Curwin Bosch gets his kick-for-touch all wrong. It'll be... another Edinburgh scrum.

  15. converted try

    Sharks 0-7 Edinburgh

Emiliano Boffelli adds the extras and Edinburgh finally make use of the man advantage.

Mike Blair's side look at their best playing fast-tempo, free-running rugby. They used that tactic to the best of their ability there, picking off the Sharks and making it look easy in the process. Meanwhile, Marius Louw is back on after his sin-binning.

  16. try

Trypublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-5 Edinburgh

Splashdown! It's Blair Kinghorn with it!

Edinburgh have their first real gallop forward with Mark Bennett stabbing holes in the Sharks defence. In the end, a simple dummy puts Kinghorn through the gap and it's a straight forward score.

  17. Postpublished at 15:28 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-0 Edinburgh

The kick-tennis is well underway as Blair Kinghorn and Emiliano Boffelli take turns thumping the leather off the ball, booting it deep into Sharks territory.

It comes to naught in the end, but this could be the way much of this game pans out.

  18. Sin-binpublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-0 Edinburgh

Oh dear, oh dear. Ben Vellacott took a quick throw to Blair Kinghorn who was taken out in the air by Marius Louw. The Edinburgh fly-half lands on his head and it looks really, really ugly. Thankfully, he's okay.

The TMO is looking at it... and referee Andrea Piardi shows Louw the yellow card.

  19. Postpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-0 Edinburgh

Crikey, it's a real slip-n-slide out there, water spraying and sloshing with every step on the turf.

Edinburgh end up conceding a penalty just outside their own as Blair Kinghorn holds onto the ball in a tackle. Thankfully for the visitors, Curwin Bosch misses the penalty from the tee.

  20. And we're off!published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Sharks 0-0 Edinburgh

It's a much nicer day in Edinburgh than it is in Durban... not sure how often you can say that.

It's positively pouring it down on the South African east coast as Blair Kinghorn gets this game underway.
