  1. 'Ireland clinical throughout'published at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Half-time: Wales 3-27 Ireland

    Claire Small
Ireland international on BBC Radio Ulster

The jitters are well settled now. Ireland started so well and they've been clinical throughout.

They've controlled the game in attack and defence. They've shown up and told Wales 'we're here for a big physical confrontation', which is what you would have expected from the Welsh.

  2. 'Very worrying' for Walespublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Half time: Wales 3-24 Ireland

    Tom Shanklin
Former Wales international on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It's very, very worrying. Ireland seem to be dominating the collisions, they're playing the tempo they want to play.

Wales' discipline has been under question a lot, allowing Ireland to get into their half.

There have been opportunities for Wales, but there's been three or four they haven't been able to capitalise on.

It's a very worrying time at the moment for Wales.

Ill discipline from Wales. They haven't kept the ball, they've kicked too much and Dan Biggar is a bit too deep in the pocket.

You can't take anything away from Ireland though. The pace of their game has been brilliant and the ball carrying has put Wales under a lot of pressure.

    They have been clinical.

    Donncha O'Callaghan
Former Ireland lock on BBC One

Super half for Ireland, Andy Farrell will be delighted with his charges in that first half.

There will be frustration for Wales, little areas they need to get right. Their discipline needs to improve for the second half.

  6. Half-time: Wales 3-27 Irelandpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Gareth Griffiths
BBC Sport Wales at Principality Stadium

Rarely have Wales been humbled so much in the opening half of a Six Nations match in Cardiff.

Ireland have been totally dominant against a woeful Wales side who have been ill-disciplined and inaccurate.

Tries from Caelan Doris, James Ryan and James Lowe and 12 points from the boot of Johnny Sexton have silenced the Cardiff crowd. The 24-point advantage does not flatter them.

  7. Half-time: Wales 3-27 Irelandpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

Ireland showing just why they are the world's number one team and favourites for the title.

    Wales? Where do you start?

Great attacking position for Wales with a line-out - but Owens' throw sails well over. The groans sound out.

You'd never know Conor Murray was starting his first game of 2023.

    So assured. So much control.

If Ireland have got underneath this, this is another try-saving tackle. That's three I've counted this half!

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales international on BBC One

There doesn't seem to be a lot of confidence with the ball in hand for Wales.

I think they should get George North to carry, get the forwards to carry.

    Everyone carries for Ireland.

As I thought, Andrew Porter got his big frame under the ball to deny Morgan - who has four tries in his last two Tests.

Strong bursts from George North and Ken Owens after Wales finally got some quick ball.

But they REALLY needed that score.

We were rubbing our hands together and so were the Welsh people when we saw Jamison Gibson-Park wasn't playing.

We're not rubbing our hands anymore!

  14. No try - Morgan held up over linepublished at 37 mins

The video referee Tom Foley is looking at this one.

Jac Morgan dived over but did he get it down?

    I don't think so.

  18. Wales 'hanging on'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Wales 3-27 Ireland

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales international on BBC One

The difference in tempo at the moment when Ireland have got the ball compared to Wales, it's just so easy to see.

Wales are really hanging on at the moment.

  19. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Wales 3-27 Ireland

If Wales have any hope at all of tacking something from this game, they have to hold out for the remaining six minutes of this half.

It would still be a miracle if they do get something from this.

It's so cheap, at international level you just don't expect those kind of penalties.
