It's a horrific try to lose. They've done all the hard work securing the lineout, but then Ali Price shouldn't be getting kicks charged down.

    Jamie Ritchie

    The hosts do hit back!

Ali Price attempts to clear, but his box-kick is charged down, and Edinburgh pounce.

Jamie Ritchie is the man to force his way over from close range - leading from the front.

Emiliano Boffelli doesn't miss from that sort of distance, and it's all square again.

    Edinburgh 0-7 Glasgow

Ah, close but no cigar for Blair Kinghorn and Edinburgh.

The returning fly-half looks to dart down the blind-side, but Sione Vailanu is alert to it, and bundles the Scotland man into touch.

    Kyle Steyn

A flying start for the Warriors!

The Glasgow forwards crash it up a few times, and then Tom Jordan spreads the play out to the left wing to his captain Kyle Steyn.

He steps inside, and brushes off three would-be Edinburgh tacklers to dot down and open the scoring. It's all a bit easy, you have to say.

Jordan adds the extras from out wide.

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith has also been giving his thoughts to the BBC:

"We came away with the win last week, still a lot to improve," he said. "As a group, our focus is on how we play.

"It's fantastic to be at Murrayfield, a lot of people have come out to watch, so it's a good experience to be a part of.

"Everyone is working really hard. It's good to have Ali Price and Ollie Smith come in.

"We want to take continuity from last week into this game. It was difficult with the weather conditions last week - it wasn't picture perfect, but we're still striving for that. Hopefully we can improve week on week."

Edinburgh head coach Mike Blair has been talking to BBC Radio Scotland ahead of kick-off:

"It's a very different fixture to last season when we played in the spring with the sun shining," he said.

"This is a more traditional 1872 Cup game. The guys are really motivated. They enjoy a challenge and a contest - we know we have to raise our game from last week to win.

"We're looking forward to the challenge. Glasgow will be really up for it - it'll be a good game.

"It gives you momentum, starting the game well, so we always look to start quickly. You have to be smart with that as well."

Boffelli can play 15, and he's world-class, or he can play on the wing, and he's world-class.

It's a fantastic bit of business to lock him down - I didn't think Edinburgh had a chance of keeping him.

    He's a special player.

I see it being different tonight.

Edinburgh have got Kinghorn and Bennett back, the pack is strong, home crowd behind them - I think it's going to be a good game, and they will want to show over 80 minutes that they are a good side.

  15. A late changepublished at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors (19:35)

Deja vu here, as Edinburgh make the exact same late change that they did last week.

Wes Goosen has pulled up in the warm-up, so Emiliano Boffelli switches to the wing and Harry Patterson comes in at full-back

  16. Big guns return for Edinburghpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors (19:35)

Mike Blair is able to welcome back four Scotland internationals for this crunch game.

Blair Kinghorn, Mark Bennett, Sam Skinner and Luke Crosbie all return to the starting line-up, and there are three further changes to the side that fell short in Glasgow last week.

Wes Goosen is fit enough to start having missed the previous game through injury, Henry Pyrgos is tasked with dictating proceedings from scrum-half, and Boan Venter starts in the front row.
