    Sam Simmonds (con Joe Simmonds)

Exeter get their fourth try and it's wonderfully scored by Sam Simmonds.

The number eight spots a gap, takes the first pass from a ruck on Stormers' 22 and darts through with pace to score superbly.

Keep the last weekend of April free, Exeter fans - your team will more than likely be playing in a Champions Cup semi-final.

    Exeter 21-0 Stormers

Damian Willemse breaks from deep and the Stormers full-back makes good ground into Exeter territory.

Olly Woodburn bundles scrum-half Herschel Jantjies into touch inside the Chiefs' 22, but that's a bright start to the second half by the South African side.

That first half couldn't have gone much better for Exeter. Three tries, with all of the back three crossing, as the Chiefs dominated practically every facet of the game.

Stormers’ preparation for this game was terrible - they didn't arrive in the UK from Cape Town until Wednesday - but they’ve barely had a sniff.

Exeter are 40 minutes away from joining Leinster and Toulouse in the semi-finals of the Champions Cup.

So then, Exeter are in a commanding position at the interval, thanks to tries from Tom Wyatt, Jack Nowell and Olly Woodburn.

The 2020 champions are 40 minutes away from another semi-final appearance.

Stormers have struggled to impose themselves on this first half. It could be the effects of their midweek travelling or just a bad day at the office - either way, they must do better if they're going to get back into this one in the second period.

  8. Half-time: Exeter 21-0 Stormerspublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Jack Nowell redeems himself somewhat for his earlier error with a last-man tackle on Ernst van Rhyn as the Stormers lock galloped towards the line.

One of those where a big bloke runs towards a smaller bloke and tries to run through him, but Nowell does well to hold firm.

The ball is scrambled away into touch and Exeter go into the break 21 points to the good.

Risky from Jack Nowell, who tries an offload as he is pushed towards touch on halfway and only finds a blue and white shirt in heaps of space.

The Chiefs captain eventually gets away with it, though, as Stormers are penalised at the ruck.

    Exeter 21-0 Stormers

A Stormers infringement at the ruck and Joe Simmonds takes the chance to stretch Exeter's lead by another three points... but it strikes the post!

    Still 21-0.

A dream first 30 minutes for the Chiefs. Three tries, plenty of possession and territory, and not allowing this dangerous Stormers side to get going.

With so many players leaving in the summer, this will be the last Champions Cup game for this Exeter team at Sandy Park, and they seem desperate to sign off in style.

  12. try

Converted try: Exeter 21-0 Stormerspublished at 30 mins

    Olly Woodburn (con Joe Simmonds)

    Exeter are flying here.

A line-out is sent over the forwards to Sean O'Brien, who passes inside for Olly Woodburn to touch down for the Chiefs' third try.

Exeter have one foot in the semi-finals already.

What do Stormers have in response? They get a penalty on halfway, but their attempted kick does not find touch.

    Jack Nowell (con Joe Simmonds)

And it leads to Exeter's second try!

Stormers do well to keep the Chiefs at bay from the line-out, but up pops Jack Nowell from a ruck in centre-field and he stretches over the line under the posts.

This is just the start they would have wanted.

Joe Simmonds is in the mood today.

The Exeter fly-half kicks a perfect 50-22 and Chiefs have a line-out in sight of the try line.

Travel issues meant the Stormers didn’t arrive in London until Wednesday morning, and were apparently doing some of their tactical prep on the plane over.

How much will they have in the tank, especially in the second half? The other South African side in the last eight, the Sharks, were superb for large parts against Toulouse earlier but faded towards the end.

  18. try

Converted try: Exeter 7-0 Stormerspublished at 13 mins

    Tom Wyatt (con Joe Simmonds)

    Exeter score first!

Olly Woodburn's mazy run from deep is halted, but Joe Simmonds' crossfield kick picks out the advancing Tom Wyatt on the right wing and he touches down unopposed.

Simmonds pops over the extra two points.

    Exeter 0-0 Stormers

Neither of these teams has been shy in throwing the ball around early on.

Stormers get the ball through some hands after claiming Joe Simmonds' crossfield kick aimed towards Olly Woodburn. However, after gaining metres into the Exeter half, Stormers knock on.

    Exeter 0-0 Stormers

A good opportunity disappears for Exeter, who have dominated territory in the early minutes at Sandy Park.

Jack Nowell gets the ball out on the Chiefs' right, they swing it back quickly to the other wing where there is an overlap, but a forward pass checks the hosts' momentum.
