    Sale 7-6 Leicester

It's funny, given that it is over 100 miles from Sale to Leicester, but Sharks fans naturally regard Leicester as their biggest game of the season.

They are the nearest Premiership side to them, though.

Throw in this being a semi-final and that has only intensified the occasion.

The first 25 minutes of this game have fairly flown by - this is proper, hard rugby union. No quarter asked, or given.

Leicester push Sale back, but Ben Youngs is punished for a deliberate knock on and the home side can clear their lines.

Tom Roebuck has been outstanding on the wing for Sale and in the air and it's noticeable.

George Ford is the leader of the orchestra, the conductor, he's a little maestro and his influence on Sale you can see week by week.

    Tom Roebuck, con George Ford

Lovely play from Sale and Tom Roebuck finishes excellently in the corner.

Rob du Preez comes into the number 10 position and spreads the play quickly with an excellent flat pass and Roebuck shows a winger's mentality to come away with a try.

George Ford then converts superbly from the touchline.

Sale lead for the first time.

    Sale 0-6 Leicester

Sale get a penalty and kick for the corner.

They win the line-out and get the maul on. It breaks for Akker van der Merwe, but he loses control of the ball barely a yard from the line.

It's given as no try on the field, which is confirmed by the TMO.

Crucial tackle from centre Dan Kelly on Joe Carpenter as the Sale man was on the verge of releasing Arron Reed.

That was close, but better play from Sale.

    Sale 0-6 Leicester

Leicester have really come to play this afternoon.

The two sets of players then come together as emotions run high. Referee Wayne Barnes has to sort it out.

Sale's Tom Curry and Leicester's Hanro Liebenberg are called to the referee, who reverses his first call and gives a penalty to the home side after Liebenberg's reaction.

Less than 15 minutes played and the game is at boiling point!

That's why you bring someone like Jimmy Gopperth in to 10.

He hits the points when it counts.

After his late withdrawal, Handre Pollard is playing the role of interested spectator and he'll be liking what he's seeing from his Tigers team-mates so far.

Tom Curry knocks Freddie Steward down to the floor as he chases a high kick and that is another penalty.

It's only just inside the Sale half, but Jimmy Gopperth's strike is pure and clears the posts.

They needed that one to settle the nerves nicely, so that's a huge miss from Jimmy Gopperth.

    Sale 0-0 Leicester

As Christian Day said, Sale and Leicester are not afraid to go for the aerial route.

Plenty of early up-and-unders for both teams to deal with, and as my Dad would say, the ball is coming down with snow on it.

No shirking away from the physical stuff here!

    Jimmy Gopperth

Sale are penalised for not moving away and Leicester opt for a shot at goal.

Jimmy Gopperth, who is in for Handre Pollard, takes the kick but drags it wide of the far stick.

Not an ideal start for the late replacement.

Territory today is going to be crucial. Both teams play territory games and kick to contest.

Both sides have absolute bomb defusers in their ranks.

I'm super confident that Leicester will have a plan A, B and C.

It's all about which team reacts well under pressure.

If Leicester aren't clinical, the Curry brothers will be stealing the ball all over the shop.

Fast and furious start to the game with both sides getting their hands on the ball.

George Ford knocks on from a promising position and as Leicester attack, Sale number nine Gus Warr needs to tidy up a dangerous kick.

The players will need a drink if we carry on at this pace!
