Hard to know what to make of Japan based on that showing against limited opponents.

They clearly have strength in the pack, but missed a great number of tackles today and look a bit limited going forward despite the six tries here.

Games against England, Argentina and Samoa will prove a very different task for the Brave Blossoms.

Great game... both Chile and Japan could easily beat England on that display.

Don't be fooled by the one-sided scoreline, Chile have proven they belong at rugby's elite level today.

Things will only get tougher in Pool D as they face England, Argentina and Samoa. I'd be surprised if they get a single point at this World Cup.

But they were full of commitment and invention today, and played some sparkling rugby at times.

Add in more discipline and a bit of big game nous, and they could be a real force.

Chile get what they realistically came for - the respect of the rugby world.

    Warner Dearns (80 mins)

It was grounded, and Japan add extra gloss to the scoreline.

From that scrum it is worked to replacement Warner Dearns who scores the eighth and final try of this game.

Rikiya Matsuda completes his 100% kicking game, six from six today.

Japan close to a sixth try, a clever chip kick from Rikiya Matsuda nearly sets in Kotaro Matsushima but it is just out of reach.

Chile then try to run the ball out again, but end up going back behind their own tryline before touching down. Five metre scrum to Japan.

Chile continue to play their own way - fly-half Rodrigo Fernandez with a crossfield kick on his own five-metre line to get them out of danger.

    Lovely stuff.

This means the 24-year wait for a debutant winning their maiden Rugby World Cup match goes on.

Uruguay beating Spain in 1999 are still the most recent.

    Ryoto Nakamura (72 mins)

    They do score.

From a scrum, they play it out and a beautiful reverse pass allows Ryoto Nakamura to nip through a rare missed Chilean tackle and over the line.

Ten minutes remaining, the pace of the game has hugely slowed with a raft of replacements plus exhaustion from the heat.

Japan look the more likely to score again.

If Chile get within seven points of Japan, they get a losing bonus point.

Most likely that would require them to score another two tries - earning them another bonus.

They certainly deserve something tangible for their efforts today.

RE 13:20 Must disagree with Catie. Circumstances of Curry (deliberate attempt to tackle bad position leading to dangerous contact) and Sigren (contact by being there no attempt to tackle) are completely different and I agree with the referral decisions.

Have to say that Japan have managed this second half well. They have not put the debutants to bed, but have kept them at arm's reach.

They currently have five points in the bag, which is exactly what they came for.

Best game of rugby so far. I just hope the soft red cards don't ruin this and many more games in this World Cup. I understand reds for reckless tackles, such as Farrell's vs Wales. But Curry's yesterday was clearly unintentional and no amount of red cards will stop accidents from occurring. I am glad the bunker system saw sense for Sigren's.
