Finn Russell is down on his haunches receiving treatment after another mighty collision.

Dave Cherry's throw misses its mark, but South Africa knock on, and Scotland get a reprieve.

Ben White and Sione Tuipulotu make way for Ali Price and Cam Redpath, but they can't get their hands on the ball, because WP Nel is pinged for collapsing at the scrum.

The Springboks are beating Scotland up at the set-piece.

At no point do Scotland get any sort of forward momentum, and South Africa's captain, Siya Kolisi, gets over the ball to win a penalty.

You feel Scotland probably had to score from that passage of play to stand any chance.

Scotland tried to go quickly, and Darcy Graham scores in the corner, but the officials say he did so with the wrong ball, and so we will reset.

Bongi Mbonambi's lineout throw isn't straight, and so Scotland now have the honours.

And there's Finn Russell - the Scotland fly-half drops a sumptuous kick over the top for a 50-22, so Scotland now have a lineout inside South Africa's 22.

A pause in play allows both sets of players to take a well-earned breather and take on fluids in the searing Marseille heat.

Faf de Klerk is slightly off target on this occasion.

South Africa have possession back though, and will rumble forward again.

Dave Cherry, Scott Cummings, and WP Nel are on for Scotland.

However, another scrum penalty goes South Africa's way. Everything is flowing towards the World Cup champions now.

Finn Russell kicks a penalty into the South Africa 22, and although the Scotland lineout misfires again, the Springboks knock-on, and Scotland will have another chance from the resulting scrum.

They simply have to score next.

Duncan: Why can't the South African player be sent off at half time if the TMO has now seen the footage of the head-on-head collision? Would give Scotland the advantage now rather than the player just getting banned for a game after the match.
