They're just introducing the teams to the crowd and I've got to say, it sounds about equal in terms of fan numbers.

There's a great atmosphere bubbling away here inside Stade Marseilles

Louis Rees-Zammit has got it all - he's got pace, he's got power, he's got strength, he's got the skills.

I think last week against Georgia, he had a hat-trick, but he didn't do much else other than his three tries.

I suppose it's similar to a striker in football - as long as your banging the goals in, you're doing your job.

  4. Biggar aims to finish on a highpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

Dan Biggar is not ready to hang up his Wales jersey after what could prove his last international.

The 111-cap fly-half will retire from Test rugby following the World Cup.

He hopes to beat Argentina and spend his 34th birthday on Monday heading to Paris for a semi-final with his Wales team-mates, rather than the short trip along the coast to his French home.

"I don't want my last day as a Wales player to be losing a World Cup quarter-final," Biggar said.

"For those of us finishing after the World Cup there will be a bit of extra pressure but it's also a huge motivation.

"We've been doing everything we can as a team and individuals to make sure we go out on a high rather than a disappointing end.

"These are the special weeks you play rugby for. It's all about the prize at the end of the week."

  6. Morgan among best sevens in World Cup - Gatlandpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

    Wales v Argentina (16:00 BST)

It's not a big surprise but Warren Gatland has been hailing the exploits of Jac Morgan at this World Cup.

To be fair, he's been fantastic.

Had Dan Biggar and Gareth Anscombe both been injured, you wonder if the skipper could have done a job at ten given some of his cross-field kicks.

I read last week how even Sam Warburton said Morgan is a far more skilful player than he ever was. That's some praise!

Head coach Gatland said: "In some ways it's tough on Jac to have to move to six because he's been one of the best sevens in the World Cup with his ball-carrying and even his kicking.

"It's not something we want to replicate too many times in the future but it's horses for courses and we're lucky to have both him and Tommy Reffell available."

  7. Best yet to come from Argentina - Pichotpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

    Wales v Argentina (16:00 BST)

Argentina great Agustin Pichot believes the Pumas have only shown a fraction of their ability so far in the World Cup.

The former Pumas captain says says his nation are underdogs but will can turn the tables in Marseille.

"Wales have won all their games and played really well and Argentina have won and not played well, so Wales are favourites," he said.

"Coming here as underdogs has helped Wales. They came into the World Cup with major doubts and then all of a sudden they are in the top eight when people were thinking Wales would have exited at the group stages."

Argentina are yet to reach the heights of the Rugby Championship, where they picked up an away victory over Australia and lost in South Africa by only a point.

"We had a lot of expectation after seeing the team play so well in the Rugby Championship," said Pichot.

"The game against England was not great so pressure starts to build and the wins against Samoa and Chile weren't great either.

"If we had lost against Japan we would be on the plane home, so you get a sense of relief we won.

"The positive is Argentina are probably playing 60% of their potential, but they have qualified.

"The amazing part of a World Cup is once you go through the qualifying stages, it is knockout rugby. Now it is the top eight teams in the world, so let's go for it."

So while you're going through your final pre-match preparations, here's a quick quiz for you.

Last week Louis Rees-Zammit became the seventh Wales player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup match.

Can you name the previous six?

If you're playing with your mates, the decider can be naming the opponents - and the year!

One man on the field is fly-half Gareth Anscombe who is out injured with a groin injury suffered against Georgia in the warm-up.

Now he is in a polo shirt and shorts but he has been walking freely and even doing some very light kicking the ball to himself.

Warren Gatland says he hopes Anscombe hopes to be fit for a potential semi-final. Wales will be hoping there is a last four match for him to be ready for.

Michael Cheika is a canny one.

Argentina's head coach was super quick to label Wales as favourites for this game - but then insisted that sort of talk was for the media and fans!

"I've known Wales a for a long time, even when I was Australia coach so I know their strong points," he said.

"Defence, the kicking game and attack. If they're ready to attack, their players are very fast and tough for defenders.

"The Welsh use the boot much more than we do and it will be up to us on how we best use our kicking game.

"We've looked at consistency which is key if we are going to win a game we know Wales are favourites for.

"Listening to their media and fans, they already think they're into the semi-finals.

"We know we're going to have do something different, something special around the game so we can be competitive with the Welsh.

"What matters for us is the 80 minutes between the referee starting and finishing the game."

  11. What they said? - Gatlandpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

Wales head coach Warren Gatland hopes his side can reach a third semi-final in the last four World Cup tournaments.

"You have to enjoy the pressure that comes with a quarter-final," Gatland said.

"We're not surprised that we are here and that we topped the pool and after all the hard work that we've put in, we're not ready to go home yet.

"Making the semi-final would be a huge achievement for this group of players and coaches.

"It would be our third semi-final and you look at the 2015 quarter-final when we were leading South Africa for 75 minutes but conceded at the end.

"Reflecting on that record, we would be pretty proud.

"I've always said how much I enjoy World Cups because it's the closest you get to feeling like a club side with the time together.

"That’s helped us in the past that we've done well in World Cups and we've tended to do pretty well in Six Nations following World Cups as well."

Wales look calm, they look confident. The warm-up looks exactly the same as what we've seen throughout the tournament. The goal-kickers are striking the ball really well.

It's just the case of being mentally right.

  16. Pumas or jaguars?published at 15:34 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

    Wales v Argentina (16:00 BST)

So here's a curious one that has come to me from my Scrum V colleague Gareth Rhys Owen.

Argentina's nickname, it turns out, came about as a complete accident.

When the national team toured South Africa in the 1960s, a Cape Town journalist mistook the jaguar on the Argentina badge for a puma and dubbed the visitors Los Pumas. Since then the name has stuck.

It was only earlier this year that the Argentina rugby federation changed the badge, effectively removing the jaguar's spots.

It's one for the rugby afficionados!

Argentina head coach Michael Cheika on S4C: "We had a shorter turnaround, a day less prep but we got around all the problems and we've built along the week and I'm pleased with where we're at.

"It's very hard to diffuse Wales' game-plan, the only way you can do that is through charge downs but it's about how we use our ball.

"Wales are very good in defence but we'll try and take our opportunities and stick to the golden rules of rugby of when we need to attack and we'll go from there."

  18. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

    Wales v Argentina (16:00 BST)

Wales head coach Warren Gatland on ITV: "We've spoken about the number of caps we have with a number of players over 50 caps, it makes a big difference in big games for the World Cup.

"We don't want to change too much, Jac Morgan has played a lot of six in the past and Tommy Reffell was outstanding last week, putting pressure on the opposition in the tackle area and we're expecting a tough contest at the breakdown.

"Aaron Wainwright is a future eight and is explosive and quick so we will look to get the ball in his hands as much as possible.

"Argentina have improved since their disappointing performance versus England, where they played too much rugby and England squeezed them in the conditions and dominated territory but since then they've improved and come here with a lot of confidence and support."

Out of all the quarter-finalists, Argentina are the least successful in terms of their set-pieces.

    Now it's Marseille's turn.
