Josh may have given man of the match to Jac Morgan, while a few of our other pundits pointed to Gareth Davies.

However here's what the official man of the match - Wales fly-half Gareth Anscombe - said after his 23-point performance.

Jac Morgan does everything well, he looked like a man possessed yesterday.

Every game he's been the same and every time he's played he has had a man of the match performance for me.

Wales forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys admitted it was a special feeling to be in the stadium in Lyon last night

"Definitely a memory to cherish," said Humphreys.

"Leaving the hotel with all the families clapping you on the bus and just seeing the excitement and seas of red as you're going in on the bus.

"It's been like that everywhere we've been, we've been to a few cities. It's such a massive buzz.

"When you see a village in the middle of the city just full of red people singing the national anthem, it's awesome, a great feeling."

Humphreys also admitted the squad had been inspired by the Welsh choirs that have dominated the pre-match build-ups in France.

"We actually showed videos to the squad before the Fiji game," said Humphreys.

"To see the sea of red in the centre there is amazing. We're in a bubble away from all that, but when you see it it’s incredible. It really is incredible.”

I can't see how Australia can get rid of Eddie Jones.

You've got the Lions in two years time which is a huge money spinner.

He's got four years left on a decent contract I'm sure, but is two years enough to prepare for a Lions tour and then a World Cup two years later?

I have to stay here till the end of the World Cup, but I will be commentating on Wales v Argentina and Fiji v England... so Fiji and Wales will be my two teams now.

Wales will get to the semi-final at least!

It will be hard to change the team.

I've said from the start our route is favourable and we can get to the semis.

Scrum V: 2023 Rugby World Cup

Wales forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys told the media this morning:

"We are in pretty good shape apart from Dan Biggar. He will probably be a couple of weeks, but he is feeling a lot better this morning."

On Louis Rees-Zammit, who limped off in the second half: “He's fine. He's good.”

    That's a relief.

I think you keep the same side for Georgia or maybe a couple of changes, we've got 13 days before Georgia and if you don't play in that it's three weeks and I think that's two long.

I think the starting side will start, so Dan Biggar possibly out of the quarter final.

Dewi Lake may come onto the bench along with Leigh Halfpenny to kick the points.

I think Leigh Halfpenny should come in just to kick the points but we have got the luxury of that break.

We've already rotated the whole squad once so I think we will field a strong team for Georgia.

    So, two weeks until Georgia.

Do we change the team and rest up for the quarters - and learn the lessons of France with Antoine Dupont?

Or do you keep the team and build momentum?

What do you think... stick (thumbs up) or rotate (thumbs down)?

Australia have the youngest squad at the World Cup... and there were times last night when they looked shell-shocked.

They really lacked an old head to pull them together. Rudderless.

I was upset when Dave Rennie got the sack and he's a tremendous guy, but I was all in for Eddie Jones thinking we should give it a run.

When we were hammered by South Africa and lost to Argentina I still thought that we could do well, but there was small bits of hope in other games.

There are guys who could have changed things that are back home in Australia. I'll never understand his selections and we need to ask why Bernard Foley, Michael Hooper and Len Ikitau aren't there.

And Jones refused to deny the story, if even he did get a bit angry about the question!

It's difficult but we were in similar position to Australia coming in to the World Cup.With us Gatland knew enough that he could turn it around quickly but with Eddie it was a hard battle, but how true are these rumours of going to Japan?

  20. Family feelingpublished at 09:35 British Summer Time 25 September 2023

Scrum V: 2023 World Cup preview

Perfect timing again! Wales forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys has been describing the impact of Warren Gatland to transform this squad.

"He's just taken us back to the DNA of this team," said Humphreys.

"Be fit, work hard. That's what everybody hangs their hat on.

"We believe that we work harder than anybody else, and that's a powerful tool. We're becoming a very tough team to beat. That's our DNA.

"The family feeling is very close - they're around the environment.

"In our meeting room yesterday where we have food, there was a big family event going on with all our kids, families and wives.

"You can hear them all laughing and joking and having a good time. We reiterate we do this for them - that's what it's about. Right down to the bones. It's incorporated in everything we do."
