  2. Everitt praises Jamie Ritchiepublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 20 April

    FT: Edinburgh 43-18 Scarlets

Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt tells Premier Sports: "It was about us getting our set-piece sorted out, I'm talking about our line-out. We had a plan but we couldn't execute. Well done to [Vaea] Fifita, who destroyed us in the first half.

"We only got two or three clean possessions. It was a struggle and we got it right at half-time. Gilco's an experienced man and we got our strategy right and built some momentum in the second half.

"The guys put it together really well in the second half and put some good rugby together."

"Pierre Schoeman's carries were amazing. We also earned some scrum penalties as well. Not to take anything away from Ewan Ashman, he was huge.

"The unsung hero for me was Jamie Ritchie who put in his best performance for the club this year. He has been building momentum, and I'm so happy for him."

Player of the Match Wes Goosen tells Premier Sports: "I was just keen to have a go. Back home, you get told to have a go, trust your instincts and back yourself and it was nice it paid off.

"It was frustrating in the first half, we were killing ourselves. We were told to stick to the game plan, focus on what we do well. That showed in the second half. That was us.

"We had a goal of five points, we achieved that. We put an emphasis on our bench this week to come and make an impact, they did that and won us the game."

Edinburgh fixed the problems they had in the first half. As well as the physicality, there was a bit of clear thinking. The front row made a difference, brought more experience.

There are positives there for Scarlets, even if the scoreline isn't one of them.

  5. Barclay on former side Scarletspublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 20 April

    FT: Edinburgh 43-18 Scarlets

    John Barclay
Former Scotland captain on Premier Sports

The scoreline isn't that dissimilar to what they experienced in Glasgow but the manner of defeat is completely different.

You want intent, effort, your big payers to stand up and deliver. To a man, they did.

They all stood up but came up against a side that is just much further ahead of them. That was a positive step in the right direction, despite the score.

  6. Full-time Edinburgh 43-18 Scarletspublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 20 April

Not many could have expected that at half-time. Edinburgh trailed at the break, and the natives were restless.

It was an error-strewn performance, but whatever Sean Everitt said at half-time, it worked.

They were clinical, tiring Scarlets out and then picking them off. It's something they've struggled to do this season, but their big men all stepped up.

Every point will matter in this tight league table, and Everitt will be delighted with that response. Reaction to come.

You don't see that often. Pierre Schoeman has been put on his backside by Vaea Fifita.

He'll feel that tomorrow. He was almost cut in half.

One of Edinburgh's problems this season has been their inability to secure bonus points. Before tonight they had managed four tries only once in this URC campaign.

They have addressed that this evening and have been utterly ruthless in this second half. A Scarlets defence that had been incredibly resolute for an hour is now being ripped to shreds.

A few contenders for Player of the Match, but John Barclay awards it to Wes Goosen.

Pretty harsh on Jamie Ritchie, in my opinion. The former Scotland captain has looked back to his ferocious best. An absolute nightmare to play against.

That's the pick of the punch.

All the defence has left Scarlets tired and leggy, and Chris Dean exploits it, breaking on the halfway line deep into Welsh territory.

He's caught but able to pop up but able to pop up to Connor Boyle, who offloads to Mata, who shimmies through a few defenders to the line.

Ben Healy misses for the first time this evening.

    Mark Bennett

Edinburgh get a big old slice of luck and this game is out of site!

Marshall Sykes' counter ruck offers the ball up to Ben Vellacott, and he pops up to Bennett in the Edinburgh half.

The old Scotland centre tears away. He has Duhan van der Merwe inside and he tries to find him, but the ball cannons off Vaea Fifita, back into Bennett's hands.

He trots over with a wry smile. Healy adds the extras, and Edinburgh are over the horizon.

There is some Van der Merwe magic!

The big winger chips ahead and the ball bounces for him - as it so often does - allowing him to canter in untouched.

There will be a check on this though... it's chalked off! There was a knock on from Van der Merwe earlier in the phase. Rotten luck.

    Pierre Schoeman

This time there is no 'not tonight' from the Scarlets defence, they let Schoeman in from the base of the ruck and he crashes over.

Bonus point accomplished, and Edinburgh upset the back-and-forth rhythm of this game by scoring twice in eight minutes.

    Edinburgh 24-18 Scarlets

Edinburgh are in the ascendancy, and they're sniffing for a bonus point - something they don't often get.

That last defensive set might have just emptied the Scarlets' tanks.

  15. converted try

Converted try EDINBURGH 24-18 Scarletspublished at 60 mins

    Matt Currie

It's heroic defence but the Scarlets finally yield.

There were about 15 phases there of Edinburgh forwards banging on the door, and receiving the old KB every time.

Eventually it comes out, Ben Healy finds Currie on a nice line and pops off to him to skip in under the sticks.

Wes Goosen carries the ball from left to right as Edinburgh look to hit back. He sets Jamie Ritchie away on the wing, and as he's brought down the advantage comes to the hosts.

Ben Healy kicks away, and now they have that penalty. They might just try the tap here.

Edinburgh's discipline lets them down again and another kickable penalty is conceded. Sam Costelow doesn't need a second invitation, and puts the Welsh side back ahead.

Meanwhile, Jamie Hodgson is off for Marshall Sykes.

Some ferocious Edinburgh carries take them deep into Scarlets territory. It all came from Jamie Ritchie's unbelievable chase and catch from an Ali Price box-kick.

Scarlets are struggling in the chaos and they give away a penalty. Ben Healy points to the sticks and nudges Edinburgh into the lead for the first time.

With Scarlets gaining the upper hand in that first half, Duhan van der Merwe had been a peripheral figure until he popped up with that try.

It was a lovely disguised pass from Ali Price to open up the space and Van der Merwe was never going to be stopped once he broke through.

Edinburgh need to build some momentum because they have been second best up to this point.

Ohhhhh Edinburgh - that's more like it!

From a seemingly stuttering attack, Ali Price drifts from the pace and puts Van der Merwe through a huge hole with a well disguised switch pass.

    That was a bit magic.
