    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Aberdeen have been very loose in possession and Derek McInnes will be dismayed at the room Tom Rogic has been afforded in the middle of the park.

As long as they are just a goal down they are still well in this final, but they need to get their act together before things get any worse.

  2. 'Aberdeen can't afford to pass up gifts'published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2016

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

A terrific chance for Andrew Considine to equalise but his point-blank header is beaten away by Craig Gordon. That's the kind of chance that the Dons need to put away. It was a gift.

Celtic are not in the business of giving up too many opportunities like that. A tough start for the underdogs. Rogic, so often the man against Aberdeen, is the man again. Lovely finish.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 18 mins

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Barely two minutes after Celtic take the lead, Andy Considine's glancing header is palmed smartly away by Craig Gordon. The Dons almost draw level.

  4. goal

GOAL Aberdeen 0-1 Celticpublished at 16 mins

    Tom Rogic

First blood to Celtic and it's Aberdeen's tormentor-in-chief Tom Rogic.

Jozo Simunovic strides forward from the back and although his first pass is blocked he then slips a clever ball to Rogic on the right-hand edge of the box.

The Australia midfielder drops a shoulder and cuts in on his left-foot and curls a gorgeous efforts beyond Joe Lewis and into the far corner.

Rogic has scored in each of the three matches against Aberdeen so far this season, and they've all been top quality strikes.

  5. CLOSE!published at 12 mins

First chance of the game and it falls to Moussa Dembele.

Emilio Izaguirre gets down towards the byline on the left and delivers into the box where the Frenchman gets away from his marker and powers a header towards goal. Dons keeper Joe Lewis saves although he gets a little fortunate as he palms the ball straight out in front of him but Aberdeen clear.

  6. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

10 minutes in and the opening exchanges have played out as you would expect, Celtic dominating the ball.

Derek McInnes won't be too perturbed though as Celtic have yet to really threaten the Dons defence, although he will hope his side improve on the stats which show they have had just 13% of possession so far.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 6 mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

Patrick Roberts cuts in off the right flank and slips a clever ball into the box for the on-rushing James Forrest. The winger goes down under the challenge of Shay Logan but referee John Beaton waves play on.

The appeals are half-hearted at best. Forrest seemed to just lose his balance.

  8. ouch!

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

The ball is in the air and Andrew Considine's eyes light up as he charges forwards. Unfortunately he crashes his head into Mikael Lustig's head rather than the ball.

A sore one for the Swede but he's back up and looks alright.

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

“Playing against Celtic is one thing but playing against Celtic in a cup final at Hampden, you might not get too many chances. So you must get out there, believe in yourself.

"You almost have a mind-set in bed the night before, you dream that you’re going to pop up and score that goal or going to make the big save and win it for your club to go down in history."

  17. 'Final is a marker for Aberdeen'published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2016

    Aberdeen v Celtic (KO 15:00)

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

“Celtic, with the quality they’ve got and the way they’re playing this season, you’ve got to be able to handle that. You definitely need the confidence in the dressing room.

"Aberdeen have played Celtic twice this season and Celtic have been better on both occasions.

"It’s now a marker for Aberdeen to go out and prove that they can be, on the day, better than Celtic.”

  18. 'I have felt the players' confidence all week'published at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2016

    Aberdeen v Celtic (15:00)

"It’s trying to get the balance right between attacking and defending. Andy Considine has always done very well up against (Patrick) Roberts and (James) Forrest.

"Ash Taylor has a real presence for us, and I think him and Anthony O’Connor have always done very well together.

"We tried to go strong through the middle and still carry enough threat at the top-end of the pitch.

"The players are in a good vein of form, I think they are a team with a real togetherness and drive to be successful. I’m hoping that confidence transmits onto the pitch because I have felt it all week.

"We’re huge underdogs today, we accept that, and we’ve got that to overcome, but we’re not afraid of it."

  19. 'You always want more'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2016

League Cup final: Aberdeen v Celtic (KO 15:00)

"You'll always remember the players you won something with. Our last final was a brutal 0-0, let's be honest, but it didn't matter.

"We'll have those memories for ever. You want more, though. You always want more."

Victory in the 2014 League Cup final was sweet for Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney, and he wants more of the same against Celtic today.
