    Frame 14: Selby 4-10 Higgins

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion at The Crucible

If John Higgins wins two of the next three, Mark Selby is in danger of losing  session early. John Higgins could win this tomorrow afternoon the way it is going.

  2. Higgins into double figures as the lead moves to sixpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 14: Selby 4-10 Higgins (0-76, Higgins 76)

And another one in the books. Higgins wraps it up in one visit with a break of 76.

Included in the break were a couple of impressive plants. It certainly is not Selby's day. He trails by six, three frames left today

It is going so badly for Selby, that Stephen Hendry has just talked about the possibility of the final ending a session early.

The world champion and world number one is on the receiving end of a true hiding at the moment.

    Frame 14: Selby 4-9 Higgins

Ian Manchester‏: John Higgins in full on Klitschko mode right now!

Well, it didn't work out too well for that 41-year-old in the end, as the champ came back to upset and beat the veteran.

    Frame 14: Selby 4-9 Higgins

Whatever happens tonight, John Higgins will start tomorrow's play in front. But just how wide will the advantage be?

He is currently at the table and looking menacing, 24-0 up and in a great position.

  5. 'Not having to risk to try and win the frame'published at 21:35 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 13: Selby 4-9 Higgins

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion at The Crucible

Mark Selby hasn't been scoring as well, we can see that from the list of breaks. It's given John Higgins the luxury of just shutting up shop enough to ask questions of Mark Selby.

It doesn't mean John would play that way all the time, but the way it is panning out he's not having to risk to try and win the frame but he's actually making it more difficult for Mark Selby and putting more pressure on him getting in.

    Bingham hits the jackpot (2015)

    Stuart BinghamImage source, Getty Images

Stuart Bingham's name seemed to be on the trophy when the underdog beat former champions Graeme Dott and Ronnie O'Sullivan, before edging past Judd Trump in the semi-finals.

He still had a job to do against another former champion Shaun Murphy, but the 50-1 shot emerged victorious 18-15 to become the oldest first-time winner at the Crucible, claim the £300,000 prize money and move up to second in the world rankings.

    Frame 13: Selby 4-9 Higgins

Rich Wojewodka‏: Higgins has paralysed Selby. Elite level sport comes down to the mental side of the game. Never seen Selby playing so uptightly.

Mike White‏: Selby looks like he's still trying to recover from the semi-final. Match had to be mentally draining. Higgins superb though.

  8. And it's a five-frame gap againpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 13: Selby 4-9 Higgins (1-68)

Nope. It is another frame for the Scot. Selby was 8-3 down in 2014, now he again is faced with overturning a five-frame deficit in a world final.

Selby probably wishes the day was over right now so he could come back fresh tomorrow. But there are four more frames left today.

You can't win it today, but Selby could be left with too high a mountain to climb if he loses many more frames tonight.

    Frame 13: Selby 4-8 Higgins

This is starting to get serious for Mark Selby and his fans. Selby is on the verge of losing the 13th frame. Higgins is 61-1 up, a lead of 60 with only 59 on the table. Can Selby pull a rabbit out of the hat in this one?

    Frame 13: Selby 4-8 Higgins

Ken Doherty has been speaking to John Higgins' mum Josephine (whose birthday it is today) about her nerves during her son's appearance in the final...

Selby does not make much of the opportunity though and has to just sit, watch and hope Higgins messes this up. He comes to the table after both players had potted one red each.

Chance one for Higgins in frame 13. It is a long-range tempter, and the Scot sinks it, but then misses the green off its spot.

  15. 'Concentration-wise he's not quite there'published at 21:10 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 13: Selby 4-8 Higgins

    John Parrott
1991 world champion at The Crucible

I think the semi-final with Ding Junhui has definitely taken it out of Mark Selby. Concentration-wise he's not quite there either. Vicky, his wife, said he was tired in the afternoon session. He's bound to be with the amount of time he was involved in playing.

If he can win the next session 3-2 in the next five frames that would be brilliant, he can go home and get a good night's sleep.

What he doesn't want to do is lose his next session. If he goes too far behind to John Higgins, he's not a player that is too easily made up on.

  16. Here we go againpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 13: Selby 4-8 Higgins

And we are back. Break over, we have five more frames tonight. It is going to be tight, tense and maybe, just maybe, dramatic. Get comfortable and enjoy.

    Ronnie's remarkable return (2013)

    Ronnie O'SullivanImage source, PA

Ronnie O'Sullivan had played just one match - in September - when he appeared at the tournament in April, but despite the lack of competitive action, produced some glorious snooker to collect his fifth world title by beating Barry Hawkins 18-12 in May's final.

O'Sullivan compiled a record six centuries in the contest, as well as beating Hendry's record of 127 Crucible tons.
