  1. Higgins restores four-frame advantagepublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 10: Selby 3-7 Higgins (1-60)

Any hopes Selby had of pulling this frame out of the fire end when he goes in-off as the cue ball vanishes into the top corner pocket.

Higgins is four ahead, once again.

    Frame 10: Selby 3-6 Higgins

Tom Beasley‏: This has been a ludicrously messy frame. Neither player able to string more than a few pots together.

    Frame 10: Selby 3-6 Higgins

No, is the answer to that question. Selby sinks a red but a slow-rolled pink off the spot into the middle pocket bounces back off the jaws to stay on the cloth.

Selby, 56-1 behind, now needs a snooker.

    Frame 10: Selby 3-6 Higgins

Higgins has now stretched his lead to 56, but now Selby, with four reds on the table, has a chance to do some damage.

In frame seven, Selby was 52-1 up and lost it 59-54 on the black, can he give Higgins a taste of his own medicine?

Andy Gibson: They're not messing about tonight, both going for everything. Looks like a table from an amateur game with balls everywhere.

Ed Yew‏: Again Selby huge luck. It is getting ridiculous now. He needs to be punished for his risk taking. #SelbyHiggins, external#bbcsnooker, external#justicefording, external

    Frame 10: Selby 3-6 Higgins

Selby has twice played, what to the uneducated observer (that would be me) looks like a bit of a 'smash and hope'.

The first time it only costs him a red and the second time he gets away with it. Lucky. Higgins 23-0 at the moment. Four reds are near the side cushion, another two near another cushion. There will be no quick conclusion to this frame.

Into frame 10 we go. Higgins gets us under way with a break of 21 before running out of gas like a dodgy second-hand motor.

  8. Most memorable Crucible moment?published at 19:35 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Hendry beats White… again (1994)

Another one of those memorable moments that made the Crucible the home of snooker..

Scot Stephen Hendry went into the final with a fractured left arm, which gave Jimmy White hope, having lost in the previous four finals and five times in total.

At 37-24 up in the decider, White inexplicably missed a black off the spot, allowing Hendry to capitalise and claim his fourth world title… all against the same opponent.

"He's beginning to annoy me," White said afterwards. 'The Whirlwind' failed to reach another final.

    Frame 9: Selby 3-6 Higgins

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion at The Crucible

A magnificent first frame. Exactly what we needed. The long red potted into the yellow pocket, if he misses it he lets John Higgins in for a counter-attack. It just shows you what mood he's in tonight to get into this session early.

  10. Here comes the Selby fightbackpublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Frame 9: Selby 3-6 Higgins (86-0, Selby 86)

New session, new (old) Selby. He had lost five on the spin in the afternoon session to move from 2-1 up to 2-6 down, but Selby does what you would expect of the world champion and the world number one.

He bangs in a break of 86, his highest of the final so far, beating the 76 he made back in frame one. To show his dominance in this frame, Higgins does not get a point on the board, not a single one.

    Frame 9: Selby 2-6 Higgins

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion at The Crucible

On Mark Selby getting back into the match...

"This is a brand new session, there's nine frames tonight so a bit of a longer session. Maybe target a 6-3 win tonight and get back in it."

On what John Higgins needs to do to maintain his lead...

"More of the same, just keep going. Mark Selby is the one who has got to chase now. John Higgins has found himself in a lovely position now in the final now, just keep the pressure on."

So what happens tonight? Well, we have nine frames to entertain you, meaning it could well be 15-2 to Higgins or how about 11-6 to Selby? Or, more realistically, somewhere in the middle.

Remember, the winner is the first man to get to 18.
