  1. 'Perfect for Ronnie'published at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-5 Shaun Murphy

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

This is the perfect situation for Ronnie. A series of soft little stuns and screws around the pink spot - he doesn't have too much work to do with the cue ball here.

Well, you can see what he was trying.

Shaun Murphy wants to get the thinnest of contacts on one of the reds but instead split them to gift Ronnie O'Sullivan four points.

The second attempt is not much better as he hits a red, but leaves it on. That could be the chance O'Sullivan needs to move two ahead. 8-0 to O'Sullivan in frame 12.

Sometimes you get the feeling it might just not be your day.

Shaun Murphy, at the start of frame 12, just produces a fine long-range pot to down the red, but can only stand and watch as the cueball screws backwards into the middle pocket. O'Sullivan 4-0 ahead, and 6-5 in front overall.

  4. 'A lesson in cue-ball control'published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-5 Shaun Murphy

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

I said before that frame that Ronnie didn't look clinical. He has made me look a little stupid there.

In the frame before, the balls were going everywhere. That frame was a lesson in cue-ball control.

Bumble_Fan: Ronnie could play with a twig and with his left hand and still wipe the floor with anyone on tour. Absolutely effortless.

Kiefer Kirtland: It is quite simply breathtaking to watch the genius that is Ronnie O'Sullivan when he does a break like that, one of the best things to watch in life!

O'Sullivan storms through the frame with a stunning 104 break to move into the lead once again.

There goes the third century of this final. And O'Sullivan is still going.

You can understand why the players get up from their shot every time there is a distraction. Shouts of "roll up, roll up" when the cueball goes into the baulk area and "get in there" for a simple pot must be so off-putting.

The Barbican Centre is packed to the rafters and the paying public are being treated to some sublime snooker.

  10. 'Wonderful break so far'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-5 Shaun Murphy

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

This has been a wonderful little break so far from Ronnie O'Sullivan. Lovely touch - so many clever shots.

Beautiful break-building so far from O'Sullivan. Up to 52 and this one frame looks done.

  12. Postpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-5 Shaun Murphy

We have had Ronnie O'Sullivan win the first frame of the evening, before Shaun Murphy took the next, so it is O'Sullivan's turn next? Well, he has started the 11th frame well, 20 on the board and in a tidy position.

  13. 'Ronnie doesn't look clinical'published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

Ronnie doesn’t look as clinical when he’s in the balls. He may be trying too hard to beat Shaun. He’s smashing balls into pockets - that’s not normally Ronnie O’Sullivan’s way.

  14. 'Shaun fancies this'published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-5 Shaun Murphy

    Steve Davis
Six-time UK champion on BBC Two

Shaun Murphy is a different proposition to anyone Ronnie has played so far in this tournament.

With the confidence he's gained from the Champion of Champions event, I think Shaun fancies the job.

Murphy beat O'Sullivan 10-8 in the final of the Champion of Champions event last month.

Jake: Let’s hope the rest of this final continues like this. Absolutely gripping stuff. Could go all the way....

Daniel Simson: This final is an absolute cracker!!

  16. 'Another great final'published at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

We've had some great finals in UK Championships over the years, and this is proving to be another one.

  17. All square againpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-5 Shaun Murphy (32-84, Murphy break of 80)

This is set up nicely to be one of the great finals. Ronnie O'Sullivan's miss on the red comes back to haunt him as Murphy calmly steers his way to a break of 80 and we are level once more.

  18. 'Ronnie did the hard work'published at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-4 Shaun Murphy

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

This will be annoying Ronnie. He did much of the hard work to get the balls into good positions but then missed a simpler one. He's tidied the table up for Shaun to come in.

  19. Postpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-4 Shaun Murphy

Shaun Murphy up to 52, punishing that rare O'Sullivan error.

  20. Postpublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-4 Shaun Murphy

That looked to be the frame there for the taking for O'Sullivan. He takes aim at a straight red, but leaves it rattling around the jaws of the pocket, but it does not drop and Murphy, trailing 32-4, has an unexpected opportunity in frame 10.
