  1. 'Allen steals frame'published at 16:52 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 8: Mark Allen 4-4 Kyren Wilson

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

What a frame to steal for Mark Allen. Massive. I am surprised Mark didn't fancy the red along the cushion. I think he could have gone all out, but he got the snooker and left Kyren in trouble. He got 10 points from the snooker.

Kyren should have had a two-frame advantage. It is boiling up nicely. All to play for tonight.

  2. Allen wins the last frame of the sessionpublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 8: Mark Allen 4-4 Kyren Wilson (75-52, Wilson 52)

Wilson was 52-9 ahead in this eighth frame, but Mark Allen chipped and chipped away at that lead and takes it 75-52. A missed chance for Wilson, and we end the session at 4-4.

  5. 'Don't kick him out'published at 16:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 8: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

We mentioned earlier in frame four that Kyren Wilson was interrupted three times by a mobile phone going off, and the culprit was about to be ejected from the crowd.

But watch Kyren Wilson's reaction as he urges the stewards to not throw out the gentleman involved.

  6. Postpublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 8: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

This is the situation Kyren Wilson faces when he tries to play safe. The lines aren't there for him (obviously) but they may as well have been as the cue ball ends up exactly where Ken and JV suggested it would.

  7. 'Big frame for Wilson'published at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 8: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

This is a big frame psychologically for Kyren Wilson. He has had three chances to win it. If it goes into the interval all square, I think Mark Allen actually will have the edge.

Frame 8: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

For the third frame in succession, Wilson makes a half-century break with 52 in this frame following efforts of 86 and 89 in the past two frames.

But the 52 is not enough and he had a chance to wrap up the frame, but lost position potting the blue. A missed red then sees a second chance slip through his fingers. Allen 9-52 behind in this one, with a lot to do, but still in it.

  11. 'Allen on run of bad luck'published at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 8: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Once again Mark Allen has had some bad luck with how the balls have fallen in this frame. He missed a red and needed it to fall safe. He isn't on the best run of luck at the moment.

There are certainly signs that Kyren has upped his game here. The pots are going nicely in the middle of the pockets now. It is easy to let your head drop but he has stuck at it.

Kyren Wilson moves on to 19. after Mark Allen had only made nine. Wilson's last two frames - break of 86, then break of 89. Something special coming here as well?

    John Parrott

It is almost like the boys were listening to our comments before and Kyren has made two excellent breaks. I don't blame Mark Allen for taking on that pink. It is a wonderful chance now for Kyren to go in 5-3 up.

  18. 'Crisis over for Wilson'published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 7: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

    Steve Davis
Six-time UK champion on BBC Two

The crisis is over for Kyren Wilson. It will be a very interesting last frame now. If Kyren wins the session 5-3 it is a massive bonus. Mark Allen has been in control of the cue ball prior to the final, but hasn't in this match.

  19. 'Kyren is now in-stroke'published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 7: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

Kyren having got the opportunity showed he is now 'in stroke' and that previous break has certainly helped him. We can be wise after the event and say Allen shouldn't have played that pink, but there was a fraction in it.

  20. Wilson ahead once againpublished at 16:23 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 7: Mark Allen 3-4 Kyren Wilson (1-105, Wilson 89)

That Mark Allen failed attempt at the pink, while holding the rest, proves to be the crucial moment in frame seven.

Kyren Wilson does the rest. He made 86 in frame six, and has followed that up with a fantastic break of 89, although he missed the pink when he was on course for 102, which would have been the first century of the final.

Still, the 89 is now the biggest break of the match.
