Frame 7: Mark Allen 3-3 Kyren Wilson

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

You can't believe Mark Allen over-cut that pink. It was risky. With shots like that, you try and cut it as thin as possible, thinking it will definitely go in. It was unlucky.

Frame 7: Mark Allen 3-3 Kyren Wilson

Can Kyren Wilson build on that break of 86 and retake the lead? He makes 16 at the start of frame seven, but loses position and is forced into a safety.

This couldn't be closer. We've had mistakes, but the quality rose a bit through Kyren's break in the last frame. That may hopefully raise Mark Allen's game too. Both players have been tentative.

Remember, we have two more frames in this session, with a maximum of 11 frames to be played in the evening session. The first to 10 is the winner.

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-3 Kyren Wilson

Ranked 14th in the world, Kyren Wilson has one tournament win to his name - the Shanghai Masters in 2015 when he won 10-9 against Judd Trump - who he defeated in the semi-finals here.

  9. 'Highest break so far'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-3 Kyren Wilson

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

It was the highest break of the match so far to secure the frame. That will settle Kyren Wilson down.

  10. 'Boost for Wilson'published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-3 Kyren Wilson

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

Winning a frame in one visit will really give Kyren a boost in confidence. That's a bit more like it.

  11. Highest break of the match brings Wilson levelpublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-3 Kyren Wilson (6-86, Wilson 86)

    Better. Much better.

Kyren Wilson had lost two frames on the bounce but he takes the sixth with an excellent 86 - the highest break of the match.

That is his third half-century break of this final, following a 68 in frame one and a 52 in frame three.

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson

He needed a frame-winning visit and that is just what Kyren Wilson has produced. Mark Allen gave him the chance after only scoring six.

  13. 'Kyren needs a frame-winning visit'published at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

You feel it is only a matter of time until one of these guys steps up and starts winning frames in one visit. There is a lot of pressure out there. Kyren is looking a bit fragile since that missed pink before the interval. He needs a frame-winning visit.

He has a chance as Allen falters at six.

  14. Postpublished at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 6: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson

On to the sixth. We've had a couple of scrappy ones. So time for some attacking class?

  15. 'I expected higher scoring'published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 5: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

Frames aren't being won in one visit. There is no real flow. It is bitty. I would have expected a higher scoring game. It is a final, but it is still a game of snooker and these boys should know what they are doing.

  16. 'Not great snooker so far'published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 5: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson

    Steve Davis
Six-time UK champion on BBC Two

It is tense but not great snooker. Kyren Wilson has lost his potting. He has to get his wheels back on. Allen needs to get going and get his positional sense back.

It is understandable that two players who have not been in a big game like this are a bit like rabbits in the headlights.

Frame 5: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson

Vicky McAdam: I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much tension in the final before you can even feel it watching the TV, hope they relax into a bit this evening especially Mark.

Yasoob Naqvi: I believe Mark Allen will win the Masters. He is relaxed, staying confident and has the determination.

Ben Kilbride: Kyren Wilson looks like a middling French full-back who had an undistinguished season at Sunderland.

I'm guessing that's not meant as a compliment, Ben.

  18. Allen leads for the first timepublished at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 5: Mark Allen 3-2 Kyren Wilson 58-7 (Allen 45)

Kyren Wilson should have had a 3-1 lead at the end of the first mini session, missing on the pink. Now, an hour later, he is 3-2 behind.

Mark Allen's 45 helps him move ahead for the first time.

  19. 'Twist in the tail?'published at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 5: Mark Allen 2-2 Kyren Wilson

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

Mark has had two golden opportunities to clinch the frame and not done it. Is there another twist in the tail?

  20. Postpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 5: Mark Allen 2-2 Kyren Wilson

Then again, maybe not. A poor positional shot stalls Allen's progress after a break of 45 puts him 51-7 ahead.
