It's not the final anyone predicted before the start of the tournament.

World number one Judd Trump and number two Ronnie O'Sullivan fell by the wayside, as did the rest of the top 14.

World number 14 Stephen Maguire and number 16 Ding Junhui are the players left standing, but both have pedigree in the event as past winners.

The pair, though, have struggled in recent years, Scot Maguire last winning a ranking event at the 2013 Welsh Open, while China's Ding triumphed over two years ago at the World Open.

Someone will break their barren run this evening.

    And then there were two.

    And what a pair.

Scot Stephen Maguire, 38, has been in scintillating form en route to the final, while China's Ding Junhui has already sent Ali Carter and Ronnie O'Sullivan packing.

Hello, welcome to our coverage of the UK Championship final.

This is probably not the final that everyone was expecting when the tournament got under way on 26 November but we could still have fireworks today, with two-time winner Ding Junhui in action against Stephen Maguire, who has also won the tournament albeit 15 years ago.
