In a matter of hours, this "inconspicuous" corner of the Echo Arena will be transformed into the glitzy red carpet area.

Once the protective film is off, a quick vacuum and then the madness ensues. And it really is madness. Red carpets used to be an opportunity for posey photos and a quick interview with the British sporting press but since the dawn of social media, the carpet is also lined with Snapchatters, Instagrammers and influencers looking to create viral content.

This year, this particular red carpet comes complete with Christmas tree and some rather fetching SPOTY baubles. Nice touch guys...

I have been told these will be swiftly removed and packed away before anyone has a chance to pocket them.

Rehearsals got under way for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds big opening number on Saturday. The sound they created was sublimely catchy and deafening in equal measure. The base drum could be felt literally in your ribs. Didn't know music could do that.

Noel himself was being played by a student stand-in.

(Sadly he didn't sing along with the band, just awkwardly nodding. This is your moment mate. Be the rockstar you were born to be...)
