"I'm here to help out tonight. Gutted really but what can you? The show must go on."

Bianca Walkden's year can only be described as golden.

The taekwondo fighter secured five successive global titles including heavyweight gold at the World Championships in June.

The 26-year-old became the first British competitor to win back-to-back world gold medals in defending her title in South Korea and went on to claim Grand Prix victories in London, Moscow, Morocco and Ivory Coast.

In fact, Walkden has been beaten only once since claiming bronze at the 2016 Olympics - she missed out on the gold-medal match having lost in a golden-point round.

"I have the confidence that I'm becoming one of the best and no matter what happens I don't want to give up," she said.

Expect her to get a massive reception tonight in her home city.

The Women's World Cup looked to be heading into India's hands...until Anya Shrubsole came into the attack.

The Somerset bowler took five wickets in 19 balls to win the trophy for England in dramatic fashion.

She finished with 6-46, the best bowling figures in a World Cup final.

"You never actually think these things are going to happen. For that dream to be a reality is just amazing," said the 25-year-old.

Not content with bossing the on-pitch antics, Shrubsole showed great humanity off it when she consoled distraught South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk after the semi-final victory before celebrating with her team-mates.

The full list of Sports Personality contenders can be found here.
