Charlie Gray from Fulmer decided to teach his children all about the luge during lockdown.

"The kids couldn't get what a luge was so I bought a 25m piece of builders' plastic, damp proofing and a couple of floatees," said Charlie.

"A sprinkler and some washing up liquid later, we had our luge! It was cheaper than a paddling pool and so much more fun!"

It will be the first time in nine years the Sports Personality show has been held in a studio – the 2011 edition was also broadcast from MediaCityUK after BBC Sport’s move to Salford.

Before the show went on the road to indoor arenas around the UK, there were many memorable moments via live video links and surprise guests.

In 1977, there was even a racehorse – triple Grand National winner Red Rum had to take the lift to the studio.
