There is revolution in the air.

It is not quite the full-blown Paris 1789 business, but Novak Djokovic's iron grip on the match is being tested like it has not been yet.

Tsonga sets up 15-40 and two break points as Djokovic miscues wide. The Serb is rattled, sensing he is ahead on the scoreboard, but well behind in the crowd's affections.

He regathers himself to save both, advancing to the net. Over the line from deuce as well and he celebrates with a fist-pump and roar into the unsupportive stands.

It is getting interesting out there.

Novak Djokovic can't quite hammer away the final nail in Jo-Wilfried's casket.

Love-30 up the top seed sees his hopes of a break blown away with a final crunching forehand down the line the pick of Tsonga's clutch of winners.

The crowd are firmly in Tsonga's corner. Tired applause for Djokovic's best, encouraging cheers for Tsonga winning a point any which way.

This bronco is starting to buck. Can Djokovic stay on board and see it home?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has had his face pressed up against the glass, unable to get his hands on the Novak Djokovic serve all match.

Now for the first time he is able to get half a grip on it, taking Djokovic to deuce.

For the first time the Serb is being forced back from his position planted on the baseline. But the 2011 champ has enough street smarts to get through unharmed, winning a game of cat and mouse at the net and luring Tsonga into the net.

It looks like the last rites as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga slips to 15-40 amid a flurry of return winners from Novak Djokovic.

Backed into a corner though the Frenchman starts serving he is swatting night-time mosquitoes. Big bombs rain down to shore up his position.

Tsonga is hitting the ball so hard, he seems to have popped one. He lobs the faulty sphere to the umpire up in his chair. His throw is a little wayward, fortunately his racquet arm isn't and he makes good his escape.

    Keep on slugging.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is attracting the backing of a Centre Court crowd who can see their evening's entertainment coming to an earlier end than they expected.

He keeps up their hopes of a fourth with a service hold.

What would Fred Perry make of this one? Real wham-bam tennis from the pair of them, it almost makes you feel sorry for the ball as a big Novak Djokovic serve is given the full treatment by Tsonga. His ripped return down the line brings up 40-30, but Djokovic shows there is some silk to go with his steel.

A delicate patted volley seals the game on the next point.

Stephanie Siu:, external A blistering, BRUTAL set from the Djoker. He's my 2nd favourite but the fact I'm grimacing for Jo shows how much I like him too.

Shohidur Rahman:, external Djokovic just playing flawless tennis. Tsonga is actually playing quite well but Djokovic is on another planet right now.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga comes out punching. String-twanging power as he holds to love with big, big, brutal serving.

It earns a hearty cheer from the crowd, but those points are the ones that put on a show rather than win the dough.

  19. GAME AND SECOND SETpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 30 June 2014

Any dreams that Jo-Wilfried Tsonga had of getting out of this with the second set are rudely interrupted by a blitz of a game.

Whistlestop hold to love and the second set is clocked in a shade under an hour.

  20. Postpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 30 June 2014

That game is worth more than a scoreboard digit.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is battered to 0-40 and the second set looks doomed. Whether Djokovic's concentration slips, whether Tsonga starts swinging with the abandon of the condemned, something shifts in the momentum.

Five straight points for Tsonga save the game and might just inject some steel and self-belief in his system. Or they might just be a footnote to a brewing annihilation.
