"Dimitrov is just trying too hard. Djokovic looks like he is in control of every rally and Dimitrov is hitting it harder and harder as he tries to make something happen."

Heavenly tennis in the house of BOD. Lions, Ireland and Leinster legend Brian O'Driscoll looks on as Grigor Dimitrov strangles his backswing on a baseline forehand, sending a tickle of of a drop-shot ghosting over the tape. It lands as soft as a butterfly on a petal to give the Bulgarian a sniff a 40-30.

Another bit of front-court duck and dive goes Dimitrov's way to take him to deuce. And Djokovic now, maybe feeling the pressure, flops into the net to hand over his opponent's first break point of the match.

It is left in the dust though as Dimitrov slips and slides on a bare patch at the back of the court and can't get the traction to get to a Djokovic forehand.

Djokovic changed his footwear to help him to his win over Marin Cilic last time out. Maybe BOD has a pair of long winter studs for Dimitrov.

    Martina Navratilova
Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

"It has been really gusty out there and both players are struggling with the wind. Djokovic is really changing the direction of the ball so quickly and Dimitrov has been on the run a lot more than in his previous games."

"To me Dimitrov looks like he is trying to force the issue too much. At times his shot selection is just not right. You have to pick the spots at the right time and he is not doing that and a lot of that is down to Novak."

Now it is Novak Djokovic asking the questions and nobody interrogates a serve quite like the Serb. Fifteen-thirty as he edges closer and closer in on the Grigor Dimitrov serve. A double-fault helps him to deuce.

That dreamy backhand turns into a nightmare for Dimitrov as he tries to kill Djokovic early in the next two rallies.

One flies wide cross-court to give Djokovic break point and another twangs the wire as he goes down the line, looping up, down and long.

Dimitrov has never won a senior match from two sets to love down. Doing so against Novak Djokovic is a hard place to learn the trick.

Right, is this Grigor's chance? The Bulgarian stretches Novak Djokovic out of shape and into the net for 40-30. And he has a look at a second serve. Dimitrov winds up and lashes away a forehand winner to take it to deuce.

    Not today, thank you.

Novak Djokovic politely, but firmly, shuts the door. He lands two first serves and although Dimitrov gets to both with time to spare, he sends one floating long and the other into the top of the net.

"This is going to be interesting, Novak is giving Dimitrov no chance on his serve. This is exactly the conditions Dimitrov doesn't want to have to deal with because he's tight. It's windy and very warm and Dimitrov will not know if he can go the distance with Djokovic if he has has to."

Wham-bam, thank you mar'm. Making an imprint on the Novak Djokovic serve is like attacking concrete with a toothpick.

Grigor Dimitrov struggles with the depth on his groundstrokes when he does get into a rally. There are a few healthy gusts of wind rolling around the grand old place which might be behind it.

It is the same for both men though and only one of them has a set on the board. Twenty-seven minutes gone.

How Grigor Dimitrov must rue that fifth game of this opening set. He has been near impeccable apart from those ugly four points. He holds to love again, but it might all be in vain with a rock-solid Djokovic serving for the set next.

At the 20th time of asking Novak Djokovic finally misses with his first serve. There have been been automatic feed-in machines that miss more often.

Dimitrov is already 40-15 adrift though by the time he misses his mark and can't crowbar his way back into the game.

And you are back in the room.

Grigor Dimitrov recovers his senses after sleepwalking into a break on his last service game. A hold to love and we are seven games down in 18 minutes. No time for any Rafael Nadal tics out there today.

"This is perfection by Djokovic, he is not giving Dimitrov what he wants and that's a look at his second serve, because he knows he will pummel it so Djokovic has been first class."

Oh dear Grigor. It had all been going so well. The Bulgarian's laser-like concentration suddenly and spectacularly breaks. His final forehand is flayed a good couple of feet long under little pressure as he is broken to love.

That would be a bad shot on the Sunday morning council courts.
