Grigor Dimitrov takes the chance to take a break. He strolls off to the bathroom to empty the bladder and take a long hard look in the mirror. No margin for error now. It will take two sets of sparkling tennis to get out of Djokovic's pincers now.

    Martina Navratilova
Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

"Grigor Dimitrov had been playing the big points so well - maybe the pressure got to him. He will have to serve well and get Novak on the run and put him more pressure in the fourth set. Novak played a faultless tie-break - Dimitrov played two bad points and the set is over."

  3. GAME AND THIRD SETpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 4 July 2014

Double-fault by Grigor Dimitrov and suddenly he is into the mire. 5-2 Djoko. Dimitrov sinks in up to his neck with an ambitious dropper that is swallowed by the net. 6-2 Djoko and set points aplenty. He only needs one. A bullish serve barges the Bulgarian aside.

Grigor Dimitrov slices into the net. Mini-break Djoko and 2-1. Hammered overhead and a steaming ace gives the top seed 4-1. Dimitrov jams a tee-off into the body, but at the change of ends he is 4-2 adrift.

The temperature, or maybe it is the tension, proves too much for one spectator. They head behind the scenes after taking a turn.

Novak Djokovic is a little peeved as a ball stays low off the baseline, missing his swipe entirely at 15-15.

That is the last he sees of the game as we go into the breaker.

"The conditions are impossible for the ground crew to do anything about it is hot, windy and dry. The players are always a lot bigger and heavier and they slide a lot more too. I don't know what more the ground staff can do but the court is starting to affect the game too much."

No such frills and frolics from Novak Djokovic. A game as minimalist and functional as Swedish flat-pack furniture. A hold to love. Over to you Grigor.

Grigor Dimitrov looks like a lover rather than a fighter. But he will just beat you up beautifully instead. He wins the game's final point with a diving volleyed reply to Djokovic's own full-length plunge. Scintillating stuff.

Both men are still spread-eagled on the lawn as the umpire updates the score.

Novak Djokovic hammers away an ace to top off a hold to love. It also swings the spotlight straight back round to Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian will have to serve to stay in the set next.

"It was another of those games where Djokovic had a chance to break and made some mistakes that you wouldn't expect him to make. The same happened in the second set too."

Novak Djokovic's turn to open his legs and show his class. A sliding, split-legged angled drop-shot brings up 15-30, but he is frustrated for the rest of the game though.

A second-serve return. He usually makes those with ease, but this time he prods over the baseline. A forehand down the line. Meat and drink. Not this time. And a stretching volley at the front. The ball just dies on his strings.

He did do a great job of catching the racquet he flung into the skies in frustration though.

"Both are feeling the nerves out there. Whoever takes the third set will have huge momentum but that was a good hold for Dimitrov from a tricky situation."

Go, go gadget arm. Grigor Dimitrov strains every sinew to clump an overhead back past Novak Djokovic for 0-30.

The Serb cranks down a second-serve ace to pulll back to 30-30, but a forehand roll down the line from Dimitrov gives him a break point at 30-40.

Take this and it might be the third set bagged.

How much jam do you want on that one Novak? The top seed mis-hits a forehand that turns into the streakiest of winners to see off the danger.

Those are the margins. Bookmark that. It could be the turning point.

Careful out there people. This is a SPF 60 type of match. No sign of a third-set breakthrough as Grigor Dimitrov ushers his serve past the best efforts of Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic fancies adding a few Grigor Dimitrov style flourishes to his game. He has all the time in the world to put away a forehand volley at 40-15, but is far too nonchalant, the ball sliding off his limp racquet face and bouncing twice before it even reaches the net.

No such mistake on the next point. A backhand volley, so soft it was like he had a silencer rather than a dampener on the strings, lands perfectly on the whitewash.
