"It was a real turnaround in that tie-break, Bouchard was down 4-2 and went on to win four points in a row. She became more and more confident as the set went on. "
Bouchard benefits for a net-cord to pull the mini-break back and then rattles of three points to bring up two set points. Halep saves the first with a brilliant forehand from out in the tramlines. But Bouchard has one more set point, on her serve this time, and she takes it, putting away a smash to clinch the set.
Bazinga! Jim Parsons aka Sheldon Cooper is in situ on Centre Court once more in Eugenie Bouchard camp. He has been a regular in the Canadian's box during the tournament so far - could he be bringing her good luck?
We're back under way and Halep wins the first point on resumption to lead 4-2 at the changeover.

"This is a tough time for these players. It is a huge occasion for them."
Three mini-breaks kick off the tie-break to leave Bouchard with the advantage at 2-1. Bouchard throws in a double fault and then a backhand error to allow Halep to move to 3-2 clear before the match is halted as it looks like someone in the crowd requires medical attention. It's a hot day out there.
Halep coming under pressure early in a service game and is fortunate that a Bouchard forehand hits the net tape and fails to go over - otherwise it would have been 15-40. As it turns out, Halep then brings up game point and then wins a stunning rally with a crunching backhand down the line. That was so good, it warrants a fist-pump from Halep.

"I think that Eugenie Bouchard can definitely win Wimbledon. At the beginning of the tournament I said we were looking at a future Grand Slam champion but as the tournament has gone on I really believe she can win this tournament. If she does get through to play Kvitova then she will really rush her and Kvitova won't like that. She really is as hard as nails on a tennis court."
John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV
"How injured is Halep? The good news is she doesn't have to go best of five sets but if she loses this opening set, how much would it deflate her? What a boost would it be for her to win the first set. You feel there is more at stake for her than Bouchard at the moment."
Halep gets a sniff of an opportunity at 0-30, but a big serve out wide rescues Bouchard. The Canadian wins the next two points and then clinches the game as Halep fires long.
It all looked to be going swimmingly for Halep at 40-0 before Bouchard wins the next two points to put some doubt in the mind of the Romanian. However, Bouchard then lets Halep off the hook by firing long.
Bouchard tries her luck with a drop shot and it pays off as although Halep races up and whips a forehand cross court, the Canadian is waiting to hit into an empty court. It's a love service game and Halep will serve to stay in the set.

"Very effective serving from Halep. The serve into the body is a very effective one, which is not used enough, especially on grass but she did very well there."
Big point for Bouchard, who has break point on the Halep serve, but she can do nothing about a forehand winner from the Romanian, who races up to a short ball and puts it away. Halep shanks a backhand to give Bouchard another break point, but plays the next three points to perfection to hold. Bouchard will be kicking herself. A big chance goes to waste.

"Nice to see there doesn't seem to be a lot of after-effects from that ankle problem for Halep."
Solid hold from Bouchard, racing through her service game for the loss of just one point. Halep is moving better, though, following her slip.
If you're just joining us, you'll have missed Simona Halep's slip earlier in the match. The third seed stopped herself from completely going over on her ankle and then had it sprayed and taped - as you can see in the picture - before continuing.
Halep cleverly tries to keep the points short by becoming more aggressive and it pays dividends as she moves to 30-0 up. But Bouchard has some success with the return and levels thing up at 30-30.
This time it's Bouchard who slips, losing her balance, when stretching for a forehand. There's no damage, but she loses the point. Back comes Bouchard, forcing Halep to overcook a forehand. Deuce.
Halep regroups, gets a cheap point and then converts the game point with a crunching forehand winner. Big hold for the Romanian.
John McEnroe

"That injury time-out has changed the vibe in the stadium. Halep can't help but think about what is going on with her ankle so some of her focus will be off the match and that is where Bouchard should take advantage."
