Haase suffers a tweak or a strain and calls for the trainer. Muscles tightening in the heat. Murray dashes to the net, but he fails to intimidate his opponent and the yellow ball whizzes by. The Scot then nets and it's game over.
Charlie Clinton:, external What is Murray doing?! 1st serves at 80mph, demanding ice, no energy... and no trainer....?
Murray wins a game! He wins a game! Murray's serves have slowed to mobility-scooter pace, hovering around the 115mph-mark, but that is quick enough to get the better of Haase in this game.
Elsewhere, Ireland's James McGee takes the first set 6-4 against Aleksandr Nedovyesov.
The pendulum swung in Haase's favour some time ago and the Dutchman firing across aces which Murray cannot respond to. The world number 70 wins his ninth consecutive game and at the changeover Murray places a towel over his face.

"My assessment is Murray is not right physically. If he loses this game here it is going to be very, very serious. I am surprised he hasn't called for the trainer though."
Murray loses the opening two points but somehow, in spite of his feeble serves, the Scot levels at 30-30 before nudging ahead thanks to a deep volley from the net. Haase punishing the Murray serve, given oodles of time to produce a bullet of a return. Break point. Murray crumbling. Physically he's not right. The Brit is suffering.

"There is something wrong here. Murray's first service game will tell us a lot."
Murray was rubbing his right quad during the changeover and placing a bag of ice on his overheated legs and neck, but the trainer did not appear. Will Haase take heart from seeing his opponent wounded? Two aces on the trot - his 10th and 11th of the match - eases the Dutchman to 40-15, but Murray responds with a nonchalant drop volley at the net. The Scot opts to come forward once again, but this time he's beaten by a Haase forehand winner.

"Andy Murray is trying to find ice but they haven't got any and you could hear him say he needs it now. There's definitely something wrong there."
A change of shirt for Murray but not a change of fortune as the white-shirted Scot tamely allows the Dutchman to win the set. Murray stretching during the changeover. All is not right in Murray's world and now he's gesticulating to the umpire.
Murray recently let winning positions slip when losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Roger Federer but Haase is no Tsonga, and he's certainly no Federer. Murray, though, seems to have waved the white flag for this set and the Dutchman holds to 15.

"It looks like something's wrong with Andy. There's no energy at all."
Murray collects two points easily, but is reined in to 30-30 as Murray, in no man's land, is caught looking statuesque at the net. The Scot far from his best, but hangs on to save a break point.
But he is quickly on the ropes again, screwing a backhand wide to gift Haase a second break point and the sun seems to have sapped Murray's energy. The Scot offers no resistance and Haase takes charge of this set.
An elderly gentleman slowly makes his way up the vertigo-inducing steps before the start of this third game. He needs to up his tempo if he is to take his seat before Haase launches his crackerjack serves towards Murray. The Scot needs to up the ante, too, and he does so by dragging the game to deuce.
Haase goes long to present Murray with a break point but the 2013 Wimbledon champion carelessly allows his opponent to wriggle off the hook.
A turbo-charged second serve from Haase for deuce and Murray can do little but to net his forehand return on the follow-up.
David Law
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra commentator
"There are tennis players in this draw who will look at the way Andy Murray is hitting his second serve and think, 'I'll lap that up no problem.' I'm almost wondering if there's something wrong with him. He needs to figure out a way to get the rhythm going."
Murray sweating like a racehorse as the rallies lengthen. The Scot faltering again when ahead, and Haase squanders a fine opportunity at break point. Cool and crisp from Haase from the baseline, sending Murray back and forth, before earning a second break point thanks to a well-worked forehand winner.
Opportunities come. Opportunities go. Advantage. Deuce. Murray instinctively touches his ribs as he watches a Haase winner fly by for deuce. Third break point Haase. Murray wrong-foots his rival with a deep volley from the net.
Fourth break point. Oof! Haase wouldn't have reached that Murray backhand had he started chasing yesterday. Deuce. Fifth break point. Murray wide. Murray broken.

"It's awfully tough to win a Grand Slam playing eight feet behind the baseline. David Ferrer is the perfect example - he does an awful lot, but it's very hard for him to win a Grand Slam."
At deuce, Murray is a fraction wide with a backhand across court, which allows Haase to breathe a little easier and Haase holds firm to level. Both players toiling in the heat.
In other news, Kimiko Date-Krumm is 4-1 up against 19th seed Venus Williams in the first set, while Jo-Wilfried Tsonga leads Juan Monaco 4-1 in their first-round tussle.
John McEnerney:, external "Murray needs real full shot workouts in these early rounds, he's a tad match rusty like Djokovic but unlike Federer, 3 finals on the bounce!"
Andrew Priestley:, external "Haase testing and pushing Andy Murray hard in this first-round match is not a bad thing, it'll help prepare him for next week."
