Andy Murray has just one another Briton alongside him in the singles draws in Paris.

Fellow British number one Heather Watson is taking on American Sloane Stephens later today on Court Seven.

They will take to the floor once Belinda Bencic and Madison Keys - currently warming up - are done with it.

Young gun Kyle Edmund had to withdraw from the competition last night after straining a stomach muscle.

"Murray's most significant matches against Sousa have come at the Australian Open, where two years ago they basically played in a furnace otherwise known as the Hisense Arena.

"Conditions are very different today, with a beautiful Paris morning turning into a cool and overcast afternoon.

"The centre court clay has been slow all week according to Murray, and it's likely to remain so for his first encounter with Sousa on the 'terre battue'.

"The Portuguese is actually more of a hard-court player than a 'dirtballer' but he will hope a change of scenery will lead to a different result."

Murray disposed of Argentina's Facundo Arguello 6-3 6-3 6-1 in the first round.

He did not leave a lot of sweat on that towel.

The British number one has not dropped a set in five previous meetings with today's opponent Joao Sousa.

His hotel laundry might not be over-worked tonight either.
