The Great Britain Davis Cup team head off to the official team dinner as world champions.

The Stirling University Barmy Army head off to bars of Ghent to give this historic day the send off it deserves.

We are going to head off to rescue a packed lunch that should have been demolished long ago.

But not before savouring Andy Murray's match-winning shot once more. I suggest you do too.

They have had to go to a lot of places, win a lot of matches and put in a slot of effort. The great thing about sport is sometimes it reaps its reward.

Great Britain won it the hard way this year.

Their defence does not look like an easy draw either.

After playing Japan, and top-eight staple Kei Nishikori, in the first round, Great Britain could face Serbia in the quarter-finals and then Switzerland in the semi-finals.

No guarantees that the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka will be involved in those potential ties. But they could be...

A short interlude for some indoor fireworks - accompanied by a string soundtrack - before the Great Britain team huddle around the Davis Cup again for some photos.

Andy Murray grabs centre spot and no-one is going to deny him that.

Dom Inglot leads the fist pumping as another techno tune blares out, and Dan Evans has a typically cheeky grin as he raises the trophy as an official world champion.

The fascination of indoor fireworks keeps most of the crowd inside the arena and away from the bar, and it proves to be the only underwhelming few minutes of a momentous day.

"See you in Birmingham," says captain Smith, but it surely cannot get better than this.

Captain Leon Smith's speech: I can't believe this is happening. I want to thank all the players for an unbelievable effort. A big well done to the Belgium team, they had a phenomenal year.

"I want to thank the support team, they have been rocking the whole time. We couldn't do this without you.

"A big thanks to the Belgium fans for putting on one of the best atmospheres we could ever play in front of.

"The supporters have been absolutely fantastic. It felt like a 50/50 home tie, that is how good you were."

The British fans get bigged up - Leon Smith says that they turned it into a "50:50 atmosphere" and that he will see them all in Birmingham for the first match of Great Britain's defence against Japan in March.

Smith then gets doused in water by his lurking team - the captain wisely holding the microphone out away from him to avoid being fried in his moment of triumph.

An, and I am being kind here, operatic rendition of the national anthem before finally Great Britain are allowed to advance on the Davis Cup proper.

They lift the cup off the three-tiered plinth and hoist it aloft amid ticker-tape and Black Eyed Peas. They actually sound good compared to that version of God Save the Queen.

Miniature replicas of the massive Davis Cup are doled out to each of the Great Britain team, giving them something to stick on each of their mantelpieces and saving them popping a hernia by trying to lift the real thing.
