GB captain Leon Smith talks to Andy MurrayImage source, Rex Features

Leon Smith is in Andy Murray's ear at the changeover, trying to iron out any mental wrinkles in his man.

Murray has not given his captain much concern on that regard. He been locked in so far in this match. And has needed to be.

Their hopes might be fading but the decibel level among the home crowd is, if anything, rising.

How the players can focus on hitting a tennis ball is beyond me, but Murray continues to be the class act in that department.

Captains Smith and Van Herck are out of their seats more often than in them now, but it's hard to see what the Belgian can impart that will bring his man back from two sets down.

You have to give Goffin a lot of credit. To lose the second set in that fashion, play a fabulous game to hold his serve and then break.

Tremendous stiff upper lip from David Goffin who stiffens the spine and wallops away a forehand to hold onto serve and keep Andy Murray honest.
