    David Goffin is scraping hard.

One break, even this early in the third set, and you fear, or hope, that it might be curtains for him so strong is the Murray serve today.

    He saves two break points.

  2. Two break points Murraypublished at 14:17

    *Goffin 3-6 5-7 Murray

Losing that second set after fighting such a valiant rearguard action must have been like an uppercut to the solar plexus for David Goffin.

Perhaps more like a punch that landed even lower.

He has to peel himself off the canvas fast. Andy Murray is looking for the knockout blow.

And 15-30 becomes 15-40 and two break points Britain as Murray sweeps a backhand away.

It is ridiculous. It is such a high level match. Goffin has hardly missed a shot and he is two sets down.

Murray's thighs will be absolutely burning the way he retrieved ball after ball after ball to win that set point. He has such willpower and surely that is an unassailable lead now.

    Oh yes!

With Andy Murray 40-30 up, both players are walking a tightrope with the Briton on the brink but desperate not to take a trip to deuce.

A lengthy rally, Forehand, backhand, back and forth from the baseline as they trade.

Murray forced wide, Goffin chomping at the bit at the net, but he is passed!

A sublime winner! And Murray stands stock still, points to a familiar face in the crowd and chunters a private message of celebration and self-belief, nodding knowingly.

That missed dropped shot for 15-15 was a massive mistake by Goffin. That could be the match.

David Goffin with a gentle high bounce at the front of the court plays it too clever by half.

His cute drop-shot attempt is swallowed by the net for 15-15.

Could that be the shot that he sees in his nightmares tonight?

Thirty-all, a missed first serve, and a definite chance for Andy Murray.

But he is cramped up by a cunning second serve into the body. 40-30.

Murray advances and fires away a forehand. Drink down some of that deuce.

As service games go in this set, that was a close shave for Murray.

David Goffin pings just wide with a forehand at 15-0 down. Murray was not getting anywhere near it and was relieved to see it miss the target by a whisker.

More fine margins. Murray's nudge down the line past an advanced Goffin gets a helping hand on its way from the net cord. 40-0.

The Belgian crowd jeer as if Andy Murray has promised Lady Luck a fancy fish dinner after the match to get her onside.

Their man claws back to 40-30 to get nerves jangling in the British camp, but then dumps into the net.

Sixty-two minutes on the clock for this second set.

Murray well on top out on court, on points won, but crucially, where it matters, it is still on serve on the second set scoreboard.

David Goffin pushed an inside-out forehand long at 30-0.

It was a very make-able shot and the little grimace on the usually poker-faced Belgian's brows show that he knows it.

But he knuckles down and grinds his way through. And if Murray does not convert this period of dominance into a two-set lead, the gremlins are going to be running wild upstairs for the Briton.
