Just before we get going, time enough to quickly revisit this one...

Three years ago, Andy Murray did not even make it to Roland Garros because of a persistent back injury which had flared up in Rome 10 days earlier.

This year, he starts as a genuine title contender and with a recent clay court record second to none.

The Italian Open champion has won more matches than both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in the three clay Masters events leading up to the French Open.

    Stepanek 6-3 6-3 0-6 2-4 Murray

So the big question this afternoon has to be: How will these two respond to having been interrupted yesterday evening?

On the surface it should have been better news for Stepanek - Murray was well into his rhythm.

Today though, it all resets to zero. All to play for.

  5. Now then, what's going on here?published at 12:00

    Stepanek 6-3 6-3 0-6 2-4 Murray

Andy Murray was in big trouble last night, dipping into the red to avoid a shock first-round loss to Czech veteran Radek Stepanek.

The 37-year-old qualifier had world number two Murray very worried indeed after storming into a two-set lead.

But the Briton battled back to take the third set and was 4-2 up in the fourth when bad light stopped play. Delicately poised? You betcha.
