    Isner 2-1 Murray

Andy Murray's tactics are quite clear here...keep John Isner busy at the back of the court, then bring out a cheeky drop-shot to leave him scrambling. The British number one executes it to perfection early doors, but then squanders a 40-15 lead with a double fault and a crisp forehand winner from the American. Deuce...

Daniel Woods: Never thought I'd have to say this but... which Andy Murray will turn up today? Hoping for a straight forward affair!

    Isner 2-1 Murray*

If Isner keeps his first serve percentage high then Murray won't have many chances to break. So far so good for the American. Another ace to seal the game, another hold to love.

    *Isner 1-1 Murray

We know Isner is handy with the ball in his hand. We also know he isn't as clever when facing the ball. Murray pulls out an early drop-shot, but it clips the top of the cord and drops back on his side. That gives Isner a sneaky peek at 15-15. But Murray steps on the gas, keeping Isner at the baseline, then lures him forward with another drop-shot. Isner lumbers forward, can't get down quick enough and it is an easy hold for Murray.

    Isner 1-0 Murray*

Here we go. Isner to serve first...and he crashes his opener down with the speed of a runaway freight train. His second effort is similar, Murray unable to clear the net with a forehand return. Murray hauls himself level at 30-30 after surprising Isner with the quality of his next two returns. But another couple of thumping serves, including a final 131mph ace, wraps up the opener for the American.

Both players are out on Court Suzanne Lenglen, sitting back on their chairs after knocking up. Murray has a glug of water, Isner bites his fingernails.

    Isner v Murray

Load up the cannon, turn the speed setting to max and start swinging. Fast. That's pretty much how Andy Murray has been preparing for the second successive outing at Roland Garros. Either that or (more likely) he's been telling de facto boss Jamie Delgado to stand on the service line and fire down his best from close range.

However the British number one decided to approach his third-round match against lumbering giant Ivo Karlovic it worked a treat. Now Muzza is hoping for the same outcome - a quick, easy, straight sets win - against American John Isner. Another bloke who makes a skyscraper look like a bungalow.

And then there was one. Andy Murray has been used to flying the British flag solo at the Grand Slams over the years. Now here he is again. Aljaz Bedene's not-unsurprising beating by Novak Djokovic in the dimming light yesterday leaves Muzza as the last Briton standing in Paris...
