When you're in the position that Raonic was in, playing the match of your life and very close to closing it out, sometimes it's a little more difficult than you might anticipate. Querrey raised his level of play and went to net on a few more occasions.

Federer was pinned back much more in the first two sets and you can see how much more offensive he became.

This match seems to be living and dying on the accuracy of the Marin Cilic serve.

The Croat landed with 53% of his first serves in that third set compared to the 69% in the second.

If he can shut out Fed on that tee-off, he will have a great chance.

Well, well, well. Not many saw this coming about 10 minutes ago.

Sam Querrey fights his way back into his quarter-final by serving an ace to take the third set.

    This just got interesting.

Andrew Edwards:  I like Federer but the crowd cheering unforced errors by a nervous Cilic is pathetic & embarrassing. Support both!

photostatsmachine: In answer to Ben at 14.50, the last time neither Federer nor Djokovic not Nadal made the semi was 2002. That's some going.

Querrey showed us in that game on the 15-15 point, the return, he was willing to try something new, to be more aggressive. This match may just have swung.

Where did this come from? He's not done yet, this Sam Querrey.

He comes into the net and moves to 15-30. Big smiles from the big American.

Raonic then performs a perfect pick-up shot to go to 30-30, but follows it up with an uncharacteristic double fault. A first break point for Querrey.

And he takes it with a backhand volley! Beautiful.

Opening serve salvos exchanged in the fourth set.

The first three sets followed a pattern of the vital breaks coming right at the pointy end of things.

These two have got a sense of script. I wonder who has the best ending in mind?

May Kad B: If @rogerfederer, external comes back and wins this, I bet you he will win the championship

Chanice Hird: Even when he's losing and frustrated, Federer has the class to apologise over his outburst! What a gentleman!

Federer has the knowledge Cilic has blinked.

When he had the chance to win the match Cilic blinked and Federer has that to put in the back of his mind to remember for the fourth or fifth set.

You can see the reaction of the crowd, there are certainly a lot of people out here who would like to see Federer play for a lot longer.

    Stand clear. Charge. Zap!

This match has jut been shocked back into life.

Marin Cilic has three points to move a break up and within sight of the finishline earlier in the set.

He wasted that chance. Federer converted his.

A wicked whip of a backhand down the line and the set is his.

    *Querrey 4-6 5-7 4-5 Raonic

For only the second time in this match, Sam Querrey has got to 30 on the Milos Raonic serve. Remarkable.

It doesn't make much of a difference to the Canadian, though. He still holds.

Now it's up to the sixth seed to break for the match.

Sam Querrey fends off break point and goes back to deuce.

And then he serves it out to remain level-pegging in the third set.

But how long can he stave off the threat of Milos Raonic?

A Marin Cilic second serve trampolines off the net cord and floats long over the service line to hand Roger Federer a break and the chance to serve for the third set.

    Drama.

And this set could yet have plenty more to run...
