What a phenomenal effort from both players. You have to feel sorry for Milos Raonic. He looked a clear favourite after that first set.

But Murray showed that remarkable fighting spirit of his, coming 24 hours after he swept aside Stan Wawrinka.

Anyway, on to the final which is on Sunday, BBC Two from 18:00 GMT.

Who will Murray face?

Will it be Kei Nishikori, who had another epic encounter against, or Novak Djokovic, who will regain the number one spot with victory over Muzza?

Andy Murray: "I played some great points and managed to get the break at the end. 

"It was an amazing atmosphere. The longer the match went on the louder the crowd got. This is what we play for. Matches like this and arenas like this. This is one of hardest matches I've played indoors.

"I didn't expect to play a long one with someone with a serve like Milos. I'm tired. I've played so much tennis over the last few months. I'll give it my best effort - the best of what I have."

By the way - this match was a tournament record three hours and 38 minutes long. It beats the previous mark of three hours and 20 minutes set by Murray and Kei Nishikori the other day.

4-3: Raonic finds the net with a forehand.

5-3: Lovely approach play by Murray . A forehand sends Raonic out wide and Murray then comes to the net and hits the winner.

5-4: Raonic fights back by also coming to the net.

5-5: Murray again wastes his advantage by firing a forehand into the netting.

6-5: Match point. After an epic rally, Raonic finds the net. Raonic to serve. Ready?

6-6: THIS IS INCREDIBLE. He was out of this rally but then Raonic produces a great forehand on the run. Remarkable.

7-6: Raonic's forehand is out. The replay confirms. Murray to serve for the match.

7-7: Three Raonic returns creep over the net. Murray fires his forehand a wee bit too long. match point saved. Tense?

8-7: Raonic serve is good enough.

8-8: Murray then finds the net.

8-9: Raonic has match point. Finally. His first. Can he convert? Murray to serve.

1-0: Murray gets the mini break

1-1: The Scot then double faults. Broken back.

2-1: The world number one dictates play and comes to the net to finish off the point with a delicate volley.

2-2: A good Raonic first serve brings the Canadian level.

3-2: The world number four moves ahead with another great serve.

3-3: Murray fires down a 10th ace.

0-15: Murray finds the net with a forehand from the back. Groundhog Da...

0-30: What a forehand crosscourt pick up from Raonic, way out wide. 

15-30: Boom! Forehand winner from Murray. That button was depressed for full power.

15-40: Seriously pal! Murray's forehand again fails to clear the net. Two break points for the Canadian.

Break back Raonic: Quelle surprise as they would say in some parts of Canada. Murray finds the net again.

Tie-break for a place in the final.

The Scot moves into, what is now, a customary 0-30 lead on his opponent's serve but Raonic bites back.

However, with hold in sight the Canadian puts a little too much on a crosscourt forehand - it's deuce.

Ouch! Not a great time to make your sixth double fault Milos. Break point Murray.

MURRAY BREAKS as Raonic's attempted forehand down the line fails to clear the net.

The Scot will now get another chance to seal the match on his own serve.

Murray loses the first point after a weak first serve but wins the next after pressuring Raonie at the net.

15-15.

Raonic wins the next point by pushing Murray out wide and finishing with a forehand smash. He then forces a Murray error.

15-40.

Murray takes the next point and then pulls Raonic into the net for the next, but his plan fails.

Cripes!

Murray is then warned for launching a ball somewhere or other.

Two unforced errors by Raonic sees the score move to 0-30. He needs to regain composure fast.

0-40. Or is it? It's called out but what does the replay say. The replay says it's out.

Can Murray break? Y.E.S.

Raonic powers his shot from the back into the net. This has been brutal.

All of a sudden Murray has the chance to serve for the match.

The auditorium is played [Your Love Keeps Lifting Me] Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson.

Unorthodox but it worked.

Raonic skips to the net and unleashes a topspin volley that whistles past Murray - 15-30.

The Scot levels matters with a decent first serve. 

What amazing energy from both players. After 181 minutes the pair take part in a fabulous long rally which sees Raonic come out on top with a backhand return down the line.

Deuce.

Murray eventually holds though with a 131mph ace.

Finally, a passing shot down the line from Murray on Raonic's first serve. Barely seen those today. It's 30s each.

A great kicking second serve at 108mph cramps up Murray and then Raonic produces a winner inside the corner which tennis' numero uno cannot get to.

This contest is now a bit like two heavyweights in the ninth. Who has the most energy?

It's 30-30 but Murray wins the next point after a Raonic error. He holds after the Canadian's return of a first serve smacks the netting.

Raonic, who was serving in the 120mph, is now serving in the 110s. However, his placement and power on groundstrokes are still at a high level.

The Canadian seals his service game, after allowing Murray to come back into it at 40-30, following an error by his opponent.

Hello? An ace, at this stage? Murray pulls out his fourth to move 30-0 ahead.

The world number one - looking to hold on to the coveted spot - wins his service game to love - it looks like he's got second wind or third wind or ...
