  1. 'Britain were the sharper'published at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Two

It was a fabulous tie-breaker and Britain were the sharper team. I’ll make a prediction for this set – it will not be a tie-breaker. Dan Evans will be taking a sneaky look at the treatment Pospisil is getting and will be very happy. To come in and win three matches in three days, very difficult.

  2. 'Pospisil under pressure'published at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player on BBC Two

It’s Pospisil’s serve that really came under pressure in his last two service games, and then he double-faulted at the start of the tie-break.

Time for a breather. And, boy, we need it. Jamie Murray disappears to the gents, Vasek Pospisil calls on the trainer - captain Martin Laurendeau doesn't double up as a physio this time - for some more treatment on that left knee.

  15. Postpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Canada 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-6 Great Britain

Dom Inglot crouches down on the deck, leaping into action like a frog to stick away a reaction volley. Then does the same again for 30-0.

A brief blip from the Murray serve brings up 40-15, but it barely matters. Into a third successive tie-break. I've got deja vu...

    Canada 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-5 Great Britain*

Whatever Dom Inglot can do, Daniel Nestor can do. Canada's veteran leftie also sticks a love-hold on the board, Murray nor Inglot able to offer many answers. At the changeover, Vasek Pospisil gets the thumbs of captain/physio Martin Laurendeau into his troublesome left knee.

    *Canada 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 5-5 Great Britain

"Yes Dom!" shouts someone from the sideline who sounds suspiciously like Kyle Edmund. That comes after Inglot thumps down blistering serve after blistering serve in an easy peasy hold to love. Message. Sent.

  18. Canada holdpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Canada 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 5-4 Great Britain*

Game points come, game points go. Dom Inglot produces a bit of magic with a forehand that Pospisil can only stun into the net for deuce number three.

The Canadians continue to discuss their tactics behind their red and white sweatbands, Pospisil taking Nestor's advice with his next serve. What advice? "Just whack an ace down the middle mate."

That he does, going on to take the next point. A tough hold, but a hold nonetheless. Pressure back on British shoulders.

    *Canada 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 4-4 Great Britain

The Pospisil serve is creaking again. Inglot uses those microscopic arms to thread a net volley through the Canadian pair for 15-30, a break point swiftly following.

Two break points for the British pair...

One goes begging when Nestor hammers away a lobbed Murray return, the second also disappearing when Inglot sends a forehand long. Deuce...

  20. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    *Canada 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 4-4 Great Britain

The clock has just ticked into its third hour inside Ottawa's TD Place Arena. No sign of players - or the boisterous crowd - getting tired yet. Every point is greeted by some football-style terrace chant.

A double fault by Jamie Murray brings the Canadians level at 15-15, but the Scot ups the ante with an ace for 40-15. And quick reflexes at the net by partner Inglot clinch the game.
