    Vandeweghe 6-1 1-1 Konta*

Probably the longest rally of the match goes Vandweghe's way, despite Konta being in control, the American battering a forehand beyond her.

Konta's trying to match Vandeweghe for power, but her forehand is long, before fizzing down a 110mph ace.

  2. Azarenka's Mallorca march endspublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 22 June 2017

Meanwhile, in sunny Espana, Victoria Azarenka's return from a year out after the birth of her son has come to an end.

The former world number one - who gave birth to Leo in December - made her first appearance since June 2016 on Tuesday, beating Japan's Risa Ozaki 6-3 4-6 7-6 (9-7).

However, Ana Konjuh proved too much to contend with today, with the big hitting Croat registering a speedy 6-1 6-3 victory over Azarenka.

    *Vandeweghe 6-1 0-1 Konta

Pat Cash has got a decent poker face, his arms folded as Konta grabs two game points early up.

Ooh, double fault from Konta! Messy from the Brit, hitting the net in almost exactly the same place, but she wraps up the game with a cross court winner.

    Vandeweghe 6-1 Konta*

Konta won just 11 points in that set to Vandeweghe's 28. What's this second set got in store? It'll be Konta to serve.

You would assume Vandeweghe was the world number seven and Konta was the one seeking to get into the top 20 but that's the body language and the confidence being shown by Konta's opponent.

    Vandeweghe 6-1 Konta

Johanna Konta's coach Wim Fissette comes darting over as she admits that she's lost her rhythm. He tells her to get her game plan clear and to be strong. Konta says there's very few balls that she's felt she's able to step into to. She doesn't look happy.

  7. Game and first set - Vandeweghepublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 22 June 2017

    Vandeweghe 6-1 Konta

A double fault saves one set point as Coco Vandeweghe shanks her serve, but she doesn't make the same mistake twice!

It's taken Coco Vandeweghe just 24 minutes to claim the first set. A brilliantly aggressive start from the American.

    *Vandeweghe 5-1 Konta

Right, here's Coco Vandeweghe, serving for the set, bouncing the ball sharply before whizzing a serve beyond Konta.

Three set points now for Vandeweghe as Konta's forehand goes long yet again...

    *Vandeweghe 5-1 Konta

Konta's unhappiness is fairly evident. Her shoulders are down, a flicker of annoyance as she hammers down a good body serve.

There's no let up from Vandeweghe but Konta recovers with a good serve down the line before drawing the error out of the American's backhand for game point. And she gets a sympathetic round of applause from the crowd as Vandeweghe nets!

    Vandeweghe 5-0 Konta*

These two players have never met on grass before and haven't faced each other for five years. However, it was Konta who came out on top in their previous two meetings, first beating Vandeweghe on clay in Florida in 2010 and again on hard court at Rancho Santa Fe two years later.

It's not going to plan for Konta just yet, which is mostly down to the pure speed and power that Vandeweghe is sending her way.

    Vandeweghe 5-0 Konta*

Stonking stuff from Vandeweghe, a little dart forward and another forehand comes firing past Konta before she has time to stick an arm out.

Bam, there's the ace. Konta goes after the next one with a forehand but it's slightly off, the ball spearing just long, and Vandeweghe tidies the game up with a forehand winner.

Pat Cash has seen all these other Grand Slam champions coaching players and he's taken on the challenge himself with Coco Vandeweghe.

You know he'll be great value because he's one of the great enthusiasts. He'd love to be on court still because he loves this game so much.

  13. Vandeweghe breaks againpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 22 June 2017

    *Vandeweghe 4-0 Konta

Konta glances up to her box as she slices a backhand into her net. The shots are coming back to her with such fizz on them that she's not quite sure how to handle it.

A double fault, and now she's 0-40 down! And Vandeweghe gets yet another break as she goes down the line with a backhand! What a start from the American.

    Vandeweghe 3-0 Konta*

There's been some strong hitting on show so far from Coco Vandeweghe, outmuscling Konta in these opening stages. What's the Brit got up her sleeve?

The top names might have made an early exit at Queen's Club, but Roger Federer is still going strong in Halle - and boosting his Wimbledon hopes along the way.

The Swiss has beaten Mischa Zvererv 7-6 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals in Germany, and guarantee a top-four seeding at the All England Club. That means he avoids a possible quarter-final against Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal. Something they will probably all be happy about.

    Vandeweghe 3-0 Konta*

What a shot that is! Konta goes down the line and Vandeweghe is on it like a flash, slapping a forehand right into the corner of the court to bring up 30-0.

Konta comes up to the net, momentarily throwing the American off, but a forehand comes firing down the line as Vandeweghe holds.

Vandeweghe has had a curious year after her success at the Australian Open but she's the world number 30 and we know she's a dangerous opponent on grass.

  18. Vandeweghe breaks earlypublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 22 June 2017

    *Vandeweghe 2-0 Konta

A powerful forehand from the American and Konta can only spear it into the net, which brings up a break point, but Vandeweghe spears her backhand into the net.

This is strong stuff from Vandeweghe. She gives the ball plenty of oomph and Konta hasn't quite got the rhythm yet. And she's been broken in her first service game as a loopy forehand goes long!

    Vandeweghe 1-0 Konta*

It's all hammer and tongs from Konta, a serve bouncing on the line with pinpoint accuracy, but there's too much fizz on a forehand that brings up 30-30.

That's a cracking serve though, Vandeweghe stretching full tilt to meet it, but Konta misses her forehand. Deuce.

This is a real challenge for Konta. Coco Vandeweghe has an excellent grass-court record and has immense power. She made it through to the semi-finals in Australia before losing to Venus Williams.

Pat Cash has just arrived courtside.
