  1. Kerber breaks earlypublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    *Kerber 1-0 Falconi

The first rally of the match is 16 shots, and it's Kerber who snaffles the point with a backhand down the line, picking the ball right up off her toes.

Falconi saves one of three break points, Kerber wrong-footed at the net, but Kerber takes the second opportunity with a curling strike.

    *Edmund 4-6 6-3 5-2 Ward

Alex Ward's second ace of the match sees him hold with relative ease, and he looks like he's got a bit of confidence back now after that earlier dip in the third set.

    *Del Potro 6-3 3-6 1-1 Kokkinakis

Thanasi Kokkinakis looks to be channelling Ivo Karlovic from last night. More aces and big first serves to hold easily.

    Over to you, Juan.

    Edmund 4-6 6-3 5-1 Ward*

Is the pendulum swinging back in Ward's favour? Not really.

He's starting to take points from Edmund's service game at least, but the world number 50 holds again and Ward must serve to stay in the set.

    Kerber v Falconi

Here we go. Irina Falconi will serve to get proceedings on Centre Court under way.

    Del Potro 6-3 3-6 1-0 Kokkinakis*

Delpo rattled? Well that bathroom break seems to have calmed him as he races out to 40-0, the last of which just flicking the edge of the line.

An unreturned serve to finish and a big statement hold to start the third set.

    Kerber v Falconi

So, Angie Kerber. The top seed, the world number one, a finalist last year - yet she's won 21 and lost 14 of her singles matches this year.

Out in the first round at the French Open, she hasn't added any titles to her name this year. She said earlier she's "starting from zero" here at Wimbledon. Question is, can she get off to a good start?

If you look at the technical side, Kyle Edmund could get to the top 20, but there is so much involved with it. The mind, the mental side of the game, the fight, the knowing when to change your game, win at all costs, never accept defeat, he has to improve that to compete with the big guys. But game-wise, the way he hits the ball, he's potentially top 20.

    Edmund 4-6 6-3 4-1 Ward

You know it's almost 1pm at Wimbledon when the rustling of tin foil and popping of crisp packets begin behind you.

While many fans are prepared with their packed lunches and settled in for the day, plenty of others have wandered off Court Three and down to the concourses.

Maybe they're overcooking on a sweaty, if overcast, afternoon. Or maybe they think Alex Ward is not going to rescue this match as it slips out of his grasp.

    *Edmund 4-6 6-3 4-1 Ward

A double fault from Alex Ward for 15-15. Not ideal.

Then he nets to hand Kyle Edmund another break point. Still not ideal.

But a bit of luck for Ward, finally, as Edmund finds the net and we go to deuce.

The advantage is with the British wildcard and Edmund then sends a return long. Ward holds to stop the rot in the third set.

    Kerber v Falconi

    Martina Navratilova
    Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion

Angelique Kerber is not living up to her potential at the moment. Maybe she overplayed it last year and this year she's underplaying it. It's peculiar.

  12. Game and second set - Kokkinakispublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Del Potro 6-3 3-6 Kokkinakis

Kokkikanis moves to 30-0 but then a bad piece of judgement sees Del Potro gain a foothold.

The Aussies responds well and sets up two set points.

And he needs just one! Delpo digs out a few deep groundstrokes to stay in the rally but Kokkinakis finally clatters a forehand winner down the line to take the second set.

This is turning into a cracker. You can watch it here.

    Edmund 4-6 6-3 4-0 Ward*

Edmund's in control here. Firmly in control.

Alex Ward's forehand clips the net and lands just wide of the white lines, giving Edmund a 40-0 advantage.

And then the world number 50 sends down an ace and his lead is extended further.

  16. Kokkinakis breakspublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Del Potro 6-3 3-5 Kokkinakis*

Big chance for Kokkinakis here, albeit via a lucky net deflection, as the Aussies goes 0-30 on the Del Potro serve.

Del Potro makes it 15-30 then the rally of the match ends with a poor drop shot by the Argentinian and Kokkinakis has two break points.

JMDP belts a forehand wide and long! Kokkinakis breaks and will serve for the second set. The 29th seed is visibly rattled.

  17. Edmund breaks againpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    *Edmund 4-6 6-3 3-0 Ward

Both players are forced to stretch wide in a decent rally, and Alex Ward comes out on top.

But soon, Kyle Edmund brings up another break point and he wins his fourth game in a row when Ward smacks into the net. Dominant.

  18. Edmund takes second set against Wardpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

Kyle Edmund bounced back from the first set to take the second against compatriot Alex Ward, and he's been bossing it ever since.

It's not a nice match to play in and I don't think Kyle Edmund handled it well in the first set but now he looks like he is enjoying himself. He is having some fun, has a whole different body language.

    *Del Potro 6-3 3-4 Kokkinakis

Ouch, looks like Del Potro has turned his ankle on the back of the court two turf.

He's walking a bit gingerly and he's missed out on capitalising at 15-30.

Kokkinakis takes advantage to reel off two easy points from 30-30 to hold again.
