Here's a quick snapshot of what happened on day two at Wimbledon:

• Former champions Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both progressed without completing matches after their opponents retire.
• Kyle Edmund reached the second round for the first time after beating fellow Briton Alex Ward.
• British wildcard Katie Boulter lost on her Grand Slam debut against world number 60 Christina McHale.
• Fellow Brits Brydan Klein and James Ward also lost.
• Milos Raonic, Juan Martin del Potro, Alex Zverev and David Ferrer progressed, along with Dominic Thiem and Grigor Dimitrov.
• World number one Angelique Kerber made it through, along with third seed Karolina Pliskova and fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki.

Wimbledon is an internationally-recognised name but the people on its doorstep remain the most important.

The Wimbledon Foundation, the charitable arm of the All England Club, aims to change the lives of local people.

Two hard-working volunteers behind one scheme funded by the Foundation, an animation project for young people aged 7-11 and disabled people aged up to 21 across south London, were rewarded with a day out at the Club today.

And artistic pair Bunny Martin and Roy Loveday, rustled around in their props department to make these tennis-tastic hats.

"Young people in south London don't always have the chances to create and build animation projects and the Foundation helps them do that," says Roy. "It gives them a new-found confidence which they can utilise in all walks of life."

"They build the plastic figures, storyboard, film and edit these three minutes animations," adds Bunny. "They have the biggest grins of their lives from the pride of being on stage and being recognised for their work."

An Instagram message from Karolina Pliskova, who beat Evgeniya Rodina in straight sets earlier today.

"Second round ✅ See you again at the prestigious London address."

Caroline Wozniacki speaking to BBC Two: "I'm not sure how I kept fighting. I was down a break early in both sets and she had 40-0 on her serve and somewhow I managed to come back. I moved on to the easier side of the court with the shade and I started hitting the ball better.

"I feel like I'm in good shape but the first round is always tricky. Timea is a great player and serves big.

"I love playing on Centre. It's a special court and it's what we train for. I feel good about playing on grass and I love Wimbledon. I'm happy to be through."

You look back on matches and sometimes you may not agree on the turning point but in this one it certainly was the second game in the third set. Babos had broken, she was 40 love, then a double fault, a bad volley, an awkward forehand shot. From then on she was unable to recover.

Having said that, Wozniacki is a tough lady to beat, she was given an opportunity and she grabbed it with both hands and she ran.

The Argentinian moves out to 30-15 ahead before Dimitrov wraps his racquet around his own head with a flourish, bending a tremendous forehand winner down the line.

He can't capitalise though, making a couple of errors, as Schwartzman delays the inevitable.

Timea Babos looks like she's struggling to contain her emotions as Caroline Wozniacki earns two break points.

The Hungarian can only slam into the net to hand her opponent the game. The fifth seed will serve for the match on Centre Court.

The ball flies into the crowd and is caught - Dimitrov asks for it back so the spectator raises his hand like a ball boy and obliges.

Back on court, Dimitrov is cruising in second gear as he rattles off an ace, taking the service game to love and is now just one game away.

Schwartzman to serve to stay in this.

It's going all her way at the moment.

Schwartzman looking ragged on his serve now as Dimitrov takes it to deuce.

Looking very ragged on the volley too as he completely mishits one when well-placed in the rally.

That gives Dimitrov a break point - and Schwartzman fires out to hand it to him.

The Bulgarian could be done within two hours here. They've played one hour 42 minutes so far. Handy for a first round tie.

That's just pressure, plain and simple pressure. If you gave her that volley 50 times she would make it 49 times. Her coach had his head in his hands.

Caroline Wozniacki is in control once again on Centre Court. Having broken back in the second game, she's held her own serve and broken again against Timea Babos to lead 3-1 in the decider.

Babos gifted Wozniacki the last game with a really poor volley. She's looking very frustrated out there.

Serve, forehand, backhand all on point for Dimitrov as he moves into a 3-1 lead in the third set.

That last serve a 128mph boomer. Schwartzman looking shell-shocked and out of it.

It's a comfortable win for Kristina Mladenovic. The 12th seed from France has beaten compatriot Pauline Parmentier 6-1 6-3.
