  1. Game and first set - Nishikoripublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Nishikori 6-4 Stakhovsky*

Stakhovsky had broken back against the ninth seed Nishikori, only for the Japanese star to take back the initiative by winning an epic 10-minute game.

The upshot - Nishikori served for the first set and made no mistake - his Ukrainian opponent clattering the top of the net and the ball falling wide on set point.

One of Jo's best assets is how she gets up to the short balls. It is like she is always waiting to come forward. Vekic has not done too much wrong since she had those two set points.

    Konta 5-5 Vekic*

The most comfortable hold of serve so far for Jo Konta. She doesn't drop a point on her way to levelling the set.

The distinctive figure of Juan Martin del Potro is a much sought-after selfie scalp, and he acknowledges the crowd's screams to happily scrawl his signature too, with the structure that will soon be the court one roof shimmering like a recently-landed UFO behind him.

The real prize is Roger Federer, however, but where is he? The seven-time champ has finished his practice session but disappeared inside the Aorangi Pavilion rather than heading for his car home.

When will he emerge? The shouts of "Roger, over here PLEASE!" tell you he is on his way, and the crowd reaches peak excitement when he bobs through the doors.

There are as many pleas of "Roger look this way" as "Roger sign this" which tells you about the rise of the selfie... I reckon Fed posed for more than 50 in the couple of minutes he spent with his fans.

  5. Konta breaks backpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Konta 4-5 Vekic

From two set points down to a break back for Konta!

Vekic looked well on her way to taking the first set at 40-15 but lands two double faults and then hits well wide. After balancing precariously on deuce, the game is Konta's.

A good recovery from the British number one.

  6. Dzumhur breaks backpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Bedene 2-1 Dzumhur*

    Oh now, come on!

There have been more breaks in the first three games of this match than there was in the whole of Bedene-Karlovic in round one.

Bedene catches Dzumhur's serving yips and the Bosnian puts him away to break back.

  7. Bedene breakspublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Bedene 2-0 Dzumhur

    Ridiculous.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

It took Bedene five mammoth sets to break his opponent's serve in round one and he's gone and done it in his opponent's first service game today.

Dzumhur sends down a series of ropey serves, capped off by a double fault to hand the initiative to the Briton.

I think the match played in Nottingham helped Vekic to know her game plan and that she has to play aggressive tennis to beat Konta today.

  9. Vekic breaks to serve for the setpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Konta 3-5 Vekic*

Cries of "come on, Jo" from a member of the Centre Court crowd as she goes 0-15 down.

She slams wide for 0-30 and hands Vekic three break points with a double fault.

A nifty net exchange goes in Konta's favour. One break point saved.

But then the Briton shanks a forehand well, well wide and Vekic takes control of the first set.

  10. Bedene bids for place in third roundpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Bedene v Dzumhur

How will Britain's Aljaz Bedene fare after that five-set serve-tastic epic against Ivo Karlovic in round one?

We're about to find out over on court three, where he is taking on Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There was no break of serve until the point that Bedene beat Karlovic on in that remarkable match on Monday. Hopefully we won't wait as long as that today.

You can watch the match here.

Jonty: Joko being made to work hard for this. Set is on a knife edge. Come on Jo! Great to hear Kim Clijsters commentating.

Helen Carey Books: Just settling down to watch #BBCtennis, external, and rooting for Johanna Konta. Looks like it will be a good match.

    *Konta 3-4 Vekic

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 live

The courts are playing quite like they would do in the second week so anything like a drop shot has to be really good.

Everything is sitting up a bit more than it would normally and the courts are very dry.

  13. Postpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Konta 3-4 Vekic

Vekic races into a 30-0 lead before Konta hits back. She wins a speedy net rally before planting a bullet backhand straight down the grass.

But the world number 58 steps in and finds the corner with a forehand for 40-30 and holds when Konta goes just wide of the tramlines.

  14. Another walk in the park for Federer?published at 13:38 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

You wait hours in the sun for one Wimbledon legend, and then another arrives a few minutes later...

Yes, Roger Federer is in the house, arriving for a hit on the Aorangi Park courts that will probably be more strenuous than his first-round win over Alexandr Dolgoplov yesterday, which only lasted for 43 minutes and 12 games before the Ukrainian retired injured.

To be honest, I think Fed's stroll from the locker room just now was harder work than that.

Jo Konta's taking her time out here with her service game. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey - as the odd phrase goes.

Vekic pushes her opponent to deuce but Konta has the advantage and holds with an overhead smash.

  16. Game and first set - Tsongapublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Tsonga 6-1 Bolelli

Over on court two, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has raced through the first set against qualifier Simone Bolelli.

It took the 12th seed just under half an hour to whizz to a one set lead, having broken Bolelli in the fourth game and barely looking back from then on.

Game, set and match - Azarenkapublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Vesnina 3-6 3-6 Azarenka

It is former world number one Victoria Azarenka up next for Great Britain's Heather Watson.

Azarenka is playing in only her second tournament of 2017 after giving birth to her son Leo in December and has just completed a 6-3 6-3 win over Russia's 15th seed Elena Vesnina.

The 27-year-old Belarusian, now ranked 683rd, broke the Russian's serve in the sixth game on her way to taking the opening set, before two breaks of serve in the second.

Vesnina, a semi-finalist here last year, needed medical attention in the second set as she was struggling with a hip injury, but was able to complete the match, although she was outclassed by Azarenka.

    *Konta 2-3 Vekic

There's a lot of wafting going on in the stands at Centre Court as spectators try to stay cool in the intense London heat. Fans, programmes, hands, hats - you name it, it's flapping.

Both players look unflappable at the moment, though.

A powerful forehand winner into the corner from Jo Konta brings the score to deuce, but Donna Vekic keeps her composure to see out another service game.

  19. Nishikori breakspublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Nishikori 3-2 Stakhovsky

Stakhovsky is a bit of an old school serve-and-volleyer. Nishikori has no time for that, using his groundstrokes well to claim an early break in this first set.

    Dustin BrownImage source, BBC Sport

Dustin Brown is Andy Murray's opponent later on Centre Court and the Jamaican-German has also been fine-tuning his style of 'Dreddy Tennis' on the Aorangi courts, although that did not include practising his trademark dive.

If Brown, who beat former champions Lleyton Hewitt and Rafa Nadal in 2013 and 2015, is nervous as he plots his latest shock in SW19, he didn't look it when he paused on his way for a shower to put a smile on the face of those autograph hunters.
