It was a very high level first set, both pushed each other to the limit. The way that Konta reacted when she was two set points down was very impressive. She stayed very positive; there were a lot of good things. I'm curious to see if can keep that going and how Vekic will react.

Matt McGlone: Not to distract from the match but that Umpire should be doing movie trailer voiceovers. What a voice!

Gill Alexander: Pretty sure this Konta vs. Vekic #wimbledon match is being umpired by Barry White

Relly AB: Who is the umpire for Jo Konta's match? His voice is like melted chocolate. I come over all wobbly when he says deuce

And here is a clip, external of said umpire, Kader Nouni, breaking into a bit of Michael Jackson...

It was such an impressive ending to that set. From 5-3 15-30 down, Johanna's level went up some degrees and she put the pressure on.

  6. Dzumhur breaks backpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Bedene 6-3 1-1 Dzumhur*

This might improve Dzumhur's mood - a loose service game from Bedene gives the Bosnian three break points.

The Briton saves two of them but strays wide with an attempted forehand winner on the third.

  7. Bedene breakspublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Bedene 6-3 1-0 Dzumhur

Dzumhur is aggravated and not just at losing that first set. The Bosnian has words with the umpire during the changeover, accusing someone in the Bedene camp of applauding an error.

He claims he would have sent his own team member out of the stadium had they done that.

All seems a bit of a fuss over nothing. On we go.

Oh dear, that won't improve Dzumhur's mood - a woeful drop shot that falls wide handing Bedene yet another break.

He's still chuntering away at somebody in the crowd. He needs to settle - he's a set and break down.

    *Konta 6-6 (5-4) Vekic

Down the T from Vekic and Konta overcooks her return, planting the ball long.

That's a good return from Konta though, on the move, and now it's Vekic's turn to slap her return wide.

    Konta 6-6 (4-3) Vekic*

Konta back on serve. She needs to keep her cool here.

Vekic returns wide as the Briton levels. After a quick drinks break and a change of ends, Konta plants a second serve down and comes away with the point after a strong backhand winner.

    *Konta 6-6 (2-3) Vekic

Vekic takes a deep breath, serves and Konta hammers a winner past Vekic. Plenty of oomph in that.

That's long from Jo, though, and the advantage swings back Vekic's way.

    Konta 6-6 (1-2) Vekic*

    Konta on serve now.

She battles well in a short rally but then completely overcooks a forehand winner. Vekic levels.

The British number one then smacks wide. She's panicking a bit here.

    Konta 6-6 Vekic

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 live

When Vekic is pushed into a defensive position she sends the ball straight down the court flat and manages to get herself back involved in the point. She has done that a lot here.

    Konta 6-6 Vekic*

We've got a slight break in play as someone has been taken unwell in the stands. It just look very, very warm out there today. Hopefully they're ok.

  16. Game and first set - Bedenepublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Bedene 6-3 Dzumhur

Calm, composed and clinical from Bedene.

He holds to claim the first set, putting Dzumhur away with a forehand winner on the charge.

Apart from that brief wobble on his serve, the Briton looks a class above his opponent today.

  17. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Konta 6-6 Vekic*

Konta serving to stay in the set.

The British number one moves to 30-15 and extends her lead with a solid backhand drive.

Vekic copies her opponent with a backhand winner, before Konta finishes off in style in the corner.

    Tie-break ahoy!

  18. Bedene breakspublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Bedene 5-3 Dzumhur

Tremendous stuff from Bedene to set up break points on the Dzumhur serve, the pick of the shots a lovely whipped forehand winner.

Dzumhur saves a couple but Bedene claims a vital break with a stellar backhand cross court.

He'll serve for the set next.

    *Konta 5-6 Vekic

After three trips to deuce, Konta has a fourth break point.

    Nope, that's gone too.

Deuce number four and then the advantage goes to Vekic. Can she see out the longest game of the match so far? Yes she can! Konta goes long with a forehand.

A big let-off for the world number 58.

    *Konta 5-5 Vekic

Jo Konta gets low on one knee, like she's proposing marriage, and skims over a forehand winner for 15-30.

And now she has two break points.

Vekic saves one with a forehand winner and Konta wastes another by hitting long over the baseline.

The British number one lands a delicate drop shot to take the advantage and a third break opportunity.

Doh! Konta nets. Back to deuce.
