  1. Game and first set - Watsonpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Watson 6-0 Sevastova

    Imperious from Heather Watson!

Sevastova's forehand isn't working. The ball's sitting up nicely for Watson to pummel it back, before a little dink over the net takes her to her first set point.

The Latvian tries another drop shot, Watson comes charging forward, reaches it - and takes the first set in 19 minues as Sevastova's overhead goes long!

    *Cibulkova 2-3 Brady

The eighth seed Dominika Cibulkova is out on court 18 against unseeded American Jennifer Brady.

Worth keeping an eye on Cibulkova in this wide open women's draw - she was a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon last year and won the season-ending WTA Finals.

Both players looking unruffled on their serve so far.

    Watson 5-0 Sevastova*

A glance up to the sky from Watson - it's so gloriously sunny overhead - before she fizzes down a serve that Sevastova loosely slaps long.

Another big serve, another Sevastova forehand finds the net. Watson's dropped just two points on her serve so far, and a corker of cross-court shot puts her a game away from the first set!

    Watson 4-0 Sevastova

    Jonathan Jurejko

One of these women is ranked 102nd. The other 19th.

You would not realise Britain's Heather Watson was the one outside the top 100 on this early evidence.

And the home crowd is loving it. An ear-popping roar greets that crack jack of a forehand winner which puts Watto a double break up.

Sevastova can be quite a fiery player. She's already glaring up to her box as a forehand goes awry.

This is really good from Watson, meeting Sevastova's shots with plenty of muscle. She races to two break points and, with a bit of fancy footwork at the net, gets the double break! She's owning this first set.

    Watson 3-0 Sevastova*

Excellent work from Watson, following up a break of serve with a love service game.

Some clean hitting, and she gets a hearty round of applause as she makes her way to the sidelines.

  7. 30 years ago today - Pat Cash won Wimbledonpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC One

Sounds like a cliche to say that time has gone so quickly, but it has, it's outrageous. I became more famous for the climb than beating the likes of Jimmy Connors.

My dad, sister, uncle, my trainer, it was my first real team. I remember my dad saying he was bargaining to try and get tickets for the team. The officials were saying you can't have that many tickets but dad, being a lawyer, bargained to get tickets and eventually got everyone in or around the area. That was my way of saying thank you to them, it was a team effort.

  8. Watson breakspublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Watson 2-0 Sevastova

Here's Sevastova to serve. She retired in 2013 after struggling with various injuries, but she made her comeback in 2015, and reached the quarter-finals of the US Open that year.

A fine challenge from Heather Watson takes us to 40-30, and then deuce as a furious Sevastova swipe ends up at the foot of the net.

Advantage Watson - and she converts her first break point! Excellent power hitting from this duo, and it's Watson who has the early break.

    Murray v Brown (13:00 BST)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Don't be thinking that Andy Murray is taking it easy in the sunshine at Aorangi Park ahead of his second-round match against Dustin Brown this afternoon.

After more than 30 minutes of intensive work, the world number one's shirt is drenched in sweat as he fires down some booming serves - complete with trademark grunt of course.

Murray has just been facing a sustained stint of volleying too, although like Ivan Lendl, Jay Clarke has been staying firmly on his feet at the net.

Heather Watson and Anastasija Sevastova are going through their warm-ups over on court two.

  15. When will Lendl leap into action?published at 11:27 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    Murray v Brown (13:00 BST)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

    MurrayImage source, BBC Sport

So, will Andy Murray change anything about his practice session to factor in the incessant - and probably acrobatic - serve-volleying he will face from Dustin Brown later on Centre?

Not so far... although there is still time for Murray's coach Ivan Lendl to suddenly start leaping around at the net like the extrovert Jamaican-German. Fingers crossed...

At the moment, though, Derby teenager Jay Clarke, who has been Murray's practice partner all week, is back on the baseline and the pair are trading some thumping groundstrokes from the back of the court.

    Watson v Sevastova (11:30 BST)

Heather Watson will be in action shortly on court two as she faces Anastasija Sevastova.

Watson beat Maryna Zanevska 6-1 7-6 (7-5) but it was a tough task for Watson to finish off the match.

She's got a tough match on her hands today against 18th seed Sevastova.

"The support definitely adds extra pressure but it's also extra motivation, so it kind of balances out," Watson said.

"It's exciting, all the emotions. Win or lose, it's amazing just to be a part of. Even though it is stressful, it's all worth it when you come off the court as a winner."

  19. Konta warming up for Vekic matchpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

Konta v Vekic (13:00 BST, Centre)

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Can I weigh in on the unexpected encounters with tennis players chat? Last night Andrew Fitzpatrick almost clipped me with his tennis bag in Southfields. Now he is knocking balls on Court 14 with Johanna Konta.

Not a great anecdote admittedly. But it leads nicely into me telling you that Konta is going through her practice drills, with hitting partner Fitzpatrick, on Court 14.

    WimbledonImage source, BBC Sport

Konta opens up on Centre at 13:00 BST and is looking relaxed as she warms up with some crunching forehands. She's full of smiles and then pops over to have a word with her parents who are sat court side.

Dad waves, mum blows a kiss, daughter beams. And then a fan shouts 'Good luck Jo!' as the British number one heads off.

  20. Venus to set Wimbledon recordpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    V Williams v W Qiang

Venus Williams will set a new record at Wimbledon today.

Her Court One match aganst Wang Qiang will be her 97th at Wimbledon - which is the most most main draw matches played at Wimbledon among active players.

It will take her past sister Serena, who has competed in 96 at the All England Club.

Only Martina Navratilova, with 134, and Chris Evert with 111 have played more in the Open Era.
