Rogers has some terrific weapons, she can hit big from the back of the court and she has had the serve there as well. But when you're playing against the world number one, 36 unforced errors is way too many.

Security stopped letting into Court Two ahead of the second set breaker. "Sorry sir, it's full," I heard one authorative voice say.

Not any more. A few have sloped out as the chance of a shock looks to be shortening. Even Conchita Martinez has disappeared to report back to Garbine Muguruza.

That must be one of the longest walks off the practice courts in Aorangi Park history.

Andy Murray hadn't even stepped off the grass and there was a group of people hovering for selfies and autographs.

He stopped for every single person, shown by the delight of one girl who jumped in the air before running to show off her selfie to her friends.

It must have taken Murray a solid 15 minutes, and he's not even got to the fans yet!

'Let's go, Shelby', is a common shout from the American support on court two.

The world number 70 is 40-15 to the good and holds when Kerber sends long.

Liam Broady and sister Naomi continue their bid for mixed doubles glory later on Saturday in their second-round match.

I don't think Liam will be wearing this shirt when he walks out on court 18 - but you never know, because the Stockport-born player is a massive Manchester City fan.

Broady is expecting big things from Pep Guardiola's side this season, saying: "In Pep we trust - he knows what he is doing.

"We've signed a few class players already this summer and he is going to be able to build the team he wants.

"As well as the talk of Arsenal's Alex Sanchez, I've heard rumours we are getting Monaco's Benjamin Mendy, Tottenham's Kyle Walker and Southampton's Ryan Bertrand as well.

"They would all be class signings but I think not winning anything last season will make him and the players hungrier for success this season so, fingers crossed!"

    Kerber 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 2-0 Rogers*

It's Kerber's turn to rack up a double fault as Rogers claws back to 30-30.

A remarkable call by the German on her next serve. It's called out, but hawkeye reveals it was in by a millimeter, if that.

Rogers has a single break point but it's quickly wasted.

After deuce, Kerber has the advantage and Rogers swipes wide. A 2-0 lead for the world number one.

    Radwanska 3-6 6-4 3-0 Bacsinszky

A double break for Agnieszka Radwanska now, as she looks to be closing in on a place in the last 16. Timea Bacsinszky's chances have gone with that injury breakdown.

  8. Kerber breaks at seventh attemptpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 8 July 2017

A SEVENTH break point in the 13th minute of this game.

Finally, Kerber does break as Rogers lands her first double fault of the match. The disappointment is etched across the American's face.

    *Kerber 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 0-0 Rogers

Kerber's very much in business now. The world number one snatches the first two points from Rogers' serve.

The German is handed two break points when her opponent nets.

One is saved by a brilliant backhand winner from the American, the second is saved as Kerber is forced to hit long past the baseline.

After deuce, Kerber brings up another break point but that too is saved by some Rogers magic.

    We continue...

  13. Early break for Radwanskapublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 8 July 2017

    Radwanska 3-6 6-4 1-0 Bacsinszky

After a seven-and-a-half minute injury timeout, Timea Bacsinszky is able to carry on with a taped-up left thigh. Radwanska goes for the jugular, well, the thigh, and puts her opponent through a 27-shot rally, longest of the match!

Bacsinszky comes through that, but a double fault takes us to deuce. And Radwanska has the early break!

  14. Monfils and Mannarino levelpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 8 July 2017

    Monfils 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 3-4 Mannarino

Gael Monfils has never made it to the second week at Wimbledon, but that could all be about to change.

The flamboyant Frenchman could yet make the fourth round. He is one set all against Adrian Mannarino.

A fly starts bothering Angelique Kerber as she serves for the set. Pesky things. That gets the camera shutters clicking.

But she wafts it off like she wafts off Shelby Rogers. With a killer swipe of a backhand.

Kerber claws back second set in tie-break

Set point Kerber, bouncing the ball before tossing it into the air - and Rogers responds with a corker of a winner down the line!

Second set point and Kerber waits for a fly to leave her hitting zone, they get drawn into a rally, Rogers taps over a gentle return and Kerber, charging forward, thrashes the ball beyond her!

    Into a decider we go.

Rogers takes her time to open her service game in the tie-break.

After exchanging delicate shots at the net, Kerber snatches the point with a volley into space.

A huuuuuge rally starts and the German sees it out with a huuuuge forehand winner.

  20. Injury updatepublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 8 July 2017

    Radwanska 3-6 6-4 Bacsinszky

No, Timea Bacsinszky is in fact getting her thighs looked at by the trainer. A deep massage of sorts being given in the break.

Agnieszka Radwanska takes advantage of the break to do some stretches of her own. A bit of serving practice now from the Pole.
