    Dimitrov 2-1 Federer

Dimitrov holds to keep the match on serve so far. A reminder that Federer is bidding to become the first man in history to win eight Wimbledon titles. He would become just the second man in history to win eight titles at the same Grand Slam event.

Rafael Nadal, fighting back on Court One, became the first man to achieve the feat by winning the eighth of his 10 Roland Garros titles in 2013.

This is a good sign for the neutrals that want to see this one go to five sets. Rafa is almost turning this into a home match for him. It's been a tough assignment and you feel big support from the crowd may be needed for him to get over the line.

We thought Muller could cause Nadal some problems but what was surprising was how easy, quick and uneventful the first two sets were.

Advantage comes trotting along with an ace from Muller - his 12th of the match - and the big fella follows it up with another one to ensure he holds.

That serve out wide is still causing Nadal some problems - he can't return it to anywhere but the bottom of the net.

Muller looks a bit rattled, despite a stonker of a second serve, and Nadal soon finds himself with a break point as a forehand drifts long.

Again, Muller goes wide with the serve, again Nadal's on the run - and deuce comes up as Muller hoicks home a forehand winner.

    Dimitrov 1-1 Federer

Roger Federer has that quality which sets apart the greats in team sports too - the ability to somehow find time where there is none. He waits for a return to land at his feet, waits for Dimitov to move and then wrongfoots him. Dimitrov shows what he's about too though with a cracking pass at the net, but overall Federer holds on with ease.

    Nadal 3-6 4-6 4-1 Muller*

Oh! That's how you come back if you're Gilles Muller, a stunning forehand passing shot that Nadal watches whizz by him.

A better backhand from Nadal, two hands on the racquet and a step in to smack the ball past his opponent. There's a groan around the court as Nadal slips awkwardly, his legs going from underneath him like Bambi on ice.

He'll back up that break with a hold - and a big shake of the first towards the crowd!

    Dimitrov 1-0 Federer

    John McEnroe

That's one of the big hurdles. Dimitrov needs to make better decisions. He's going for lower percentage shots too often.

    Dimitrov 1-0 Federer

Dimitrov has taken just two sets off Federer in their five previous encounters but Federer is now fighting Father Time himself.

At 35 years 342 days, Federer is looking to become the second oldest man in the Open Era to reach the quarterfinals at Wimbledon after Ken Rosewall, who finished runner-up in 1974 (aged 39 years 246 days) and reached the semifinals in 1971 (aged 36 years 243 days).

Federer has a break point straight up out the box - but Dimitrov digs out some big serves to see him through.

    *Nadal 3-6 4-6 3-1 Muller

A beauty of a forehand swat from Nadal as he recovers from a sprawl to meet Muller's serve and get his first points on the board.

Muller's serve out wide remains useful, though, the pace and skidiness of it beating Nadal, but two break points come the Spaniard's way with some canny returning.

And Nadal breaks on the first time of asking! A fizzy backhand from a rampaging Rafa, and that's his first break of the match.

    Dimitrov 0-0 Federer

Grigor Dimitrov was given the nickname 'Baby Fed' from a very young age and now he comes up against the real deal.

Roger Federer won the Aussie Open at the turn of the year before missing the French. Can he win Wimbledon for the first time since 2012?

    Dimitrov to serve first. Play.

    Nadal 3-6 4-6 2-1 Muller*

Nadal serves his sixth ace of the match to applause from the crowd, before he forces Muller out wide and the 16th seed pings a return into the net.

A reminder that Nadal has come back from two sets down just three times in 20 attempts. The last time was back in 2007 against Mikhail Youzhny in 2007. That was in round four, too.

    *Nadal 3-6 4-6 1-1 Muller

A shake of the head from Nadal and a folorn "vamos!" from the crowd as a net cord bobble goes against the fourth seed.

The reactions on these two are lightning quick and it's Nadal who finally draws the error out of Muller, a backhand dipping into the net.

That serve from Muller, though. It's just fantastic. All square.

    Querrey 5-7 7-6 6-3 6-7 6-3 Anderson

Andy Murray knows his opponent in the last eight, he'll take on Sam Querrey of the US.

He came through a three-hour marathon against Kevin Anderson of South Africa, just the 62 aces in the match.

    BIG SERVE ALERT.

That match will take place on Wednesday.

The grunts and shouts from Nadal have gone up a shade as he firmly twirls a backhand beyond Muller.

Muller lashes a return out, and Nadal pumps his fist as he holds his serve to love.

In answer to my previous question... very! The Luxembourger has only gone and broke Nadal's serve.

Silence when Nadal was preparing to serve kept being punctured by roars from Murray Mound. Not that Rafa can blame them for a weak volley into the net at break point.

Is something happening over on Centre? Oh, yeah. News of Andy Murray's win pops up on the Court One scoreboard to great applause.
