Angelique Kerber is not happy with the grass, she is slipping over and when you have patches when it is sandy it becomes even harder.

The benefit of being defending champion means Andy Murray had a full weekend off. A massive benefit when you've got a sore hip.

After skulking Murray around the practice courts for the past week, it's fair to say the world number one is moving better than ever here this SW19 fortnight. That limp seems to have gone - even in front of the cameras...

The Scot hits for almost an hour under the watchful eye of Ivan Lendl - and mum Judy - before disappearing out of the back gate of Aorangi.

Take Venus Williams out of the women's draw and the difference in average age and Grand Slam titles would be very different.

Can you name the last-16 debutants?

    Kerber 3-4 Muguruza

Bigger! Bigger! Has Conchita Martinez took her touchline coaching style from the late, great Graham Taylor? I hope so.

    Demand it!

Shot! Kerber peppers the baseline again at the end of another lung-buster of a rally. This is top stuff.

Muguruza does indeed go big, pushing Kerber back with some powerful shots from deep, but the world number one is able to whip a fine shot past her to bring up the first break point of the day.

She saves it though, following in a powerful approach with a tasty volley at the net. Muguruza is warned by the umpire for taking too long between points. An early concern.

    She holds though. Fine shot.

    Marach/Pavic 5-2 Clarke/Willis*

There's only one set of Brits in doubles action today - and it's two of the more entertaining duos around.

Jay Clarke and Marcus Willis stunned the defending men's doubles champions Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut on Saturday in a thoroughly entertaining match.

They're currently taking on Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic over on court 14, where the British have just lost the first set, and you can watch that match over here.

  6. Things going 'grande' for Muguruzapublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 10 July 2017

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

1994 Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez, the only Spanish woman to win Wimbledon, is working with Garbine Muguruza this fortnight. Muguruza is obviously looking to emulate her - and has come out swinging. A few errors as well as lots of winners so far but Martinez, who is sitting a couple of rows in front of me on court two, seems happy with her choice of shots - she keeps shouting out "grande", which is Spanish for big.

    Kerber 3-3 Muguruza

Muguruza is hitting the ball in front of the baseline 42% of the time so far, Kerber just 15%. 'On the front foot' as they now say in every football match commentary ever.

Kerber has made just one unforced error so far though and looks neat and tidy. I'm putting out there at a ludicrously early stage - this is going the distance.

Cracking match thus far, Kerber wins the game with Muguruza firing wide.

    Kerber 2-3 Muguruza

Both players are merciless in putting away the bad ball so far. Muguruza steps on to a short return and clubs a winner away, before Kerber does likewise with a high ball at shoulder height. 30-30.

Week two = a distinct step up in quality. Noticeable already.

What a rally that is! Drop shots, fast wheels and deft hands. Muguruza holds.

    *Radwanska 0-4 Kuznetsova

Two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova is on course to make the Wimbledon quarter-finals for a fourth time as she is already two breaks of serve up in set one against Poland's ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska.

Kuznetsova, 32, who is the seventh seed, has not made the last eight at Wimbledon for 10 years but is in control at the moment on court three.

    Kerber 2-2 Muguruza

We've been saying all week how open the women's draw is, and this is the only match today involving two former Grand Slam champions; they are both also former runners‐up here.

A 12-shot rally is the longest to date and Kerber comes out on top, the left hander then stepping in to drive a fine shot down the line.

Then a wonderful lob brings her the game. Great stuff.

    Ostapenko 3-1 Svitolina*

French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko is also in action at the minute, taking on fourth seed Elina Svitolina.

You'll hear Ostapenko's fans cheering for Alona, rather than Jelena. According to this brilliant piece, external by Ben Rothenberg in the New York Times, she prefers Alona to her legal name.

She's going well at the minute over on Court 12, having snaffled an early break, and she's backed it up with an almighty whack of a forehand.

    Kerber 1-2 Muguruza

Kerber is the world's number one but is bidding for her first win over a top 20 opponent in 2017, having gone 0‐8 to date. That perhaps explains why she keeps getting parked out on Court Two.

Muguruza has started well, finding the lines with her ground strokes with metronomic precision. She whips through her service game, holding to love.

    Rybarikova 1-2 Martic*

Croatia's Petra Martic, the world number 135, has never made it into a Grand Slam quarter-final, but she has made a great start in her fourth-round match out on court 18, breaking the serve of unseeded Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova early in the first set.

This is Martic's seventh match of the competition, after needing to win three qualifying matches just to get into the main draw.

Among the opponents she has beaten to get to this stage is Australian 20th seed Daria Gavrilova in round one.

    Kerber 1-1 Muguruza

Muguruza holds her serve with ease against the world number one.

Kerber needs to reach the final to have a chance of retaining her No.1 ranking this week and nobody has given her much chance of taking this title.

She looks in good touch in her opening service game though, a crunching backhand winner the highlight, matched by Muguruza's two-handed shot across the court. This could be some match!

  17. 'Federer and Nadal are the standout performers'published at 11:51 British Summer Time 10 July 2017

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV

I can't see anything happening other than the big four making the semi-finals. Federer and Nadal are the standout performers so far, they have been impressive. Murray has worked his way in, similar to the French Open where he wasn't in any great form.

What a present this is! Aidan McHugh, a promising young player from Glasgow, is hitting with Andy Murray - a day after his 17th birthday!

"He's hit with him four or five times now," his dad Chris tells me. "The support he has had from both Andy and, particularly, Jamie Murray has been great."

Aidan (who you can just make out at the opposite of the net in my amateurish picture) met the Murray brothers after coming through the Tennis Scotland programme under the guidance of coach Toby - brother of GB Davis Cup captain Leon.

Aidan is playing in the boys singles tomorrow after having won his opener. Bet the other lads haven't hit with the world number one. Surely an advantage...
