Venus is the oldest woman in this year's draw as she looks to continue her remarkable performances at Grand Slams this year.

She has reached Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. She returned to the world's top 10 after the grass court season, becoming the third oldest player to do so.

Victory today would take her into the last 16 for of a Grand Slam for the seventh time in a row. Remarkable consistency.

I am so excited by this news. I love Serena. I am freaking out.

What will they call the baby? Naomi?

I don't think I would be able to handle it.

But this match is not even the most important thing in the Williams household tonight.

Reports suggest sister Serena has gone into labour.

How will the big sister cope with playing at the same time as she is becoming an auntie? Does she know? What a strange situation for Venus.

This one is a classic David v Goliath. Maria Sakkari has only ever won two matches at the US Open. Venus has won 73.

This is the Greek 22-year-old's first appearance in the third round at Flushing Meadows while 37-year-old Williams has won her home Grand Slam twice before.

    Right then.

    Two matches over on Ashe.

It is very cruel when injury strikes out of the blue. The match was in the balance. Shapovalov was perhaps slightly looking more likely but it was certainly a match Kyle Edmund could have won.

Denis Shapovalov after his win: "It is never good to win this way. I hope it is not too serious. Kyle has been playing great tennis and if he keeps it up he will be doing really well.

"In one game he hit a second serve and I heard him grunt like he had hurt something and he called the trainer. It is very unfortunate but I am happy to be in the fourth round.

"Carreno Busta is an unbelievable player. He plays big and goes for his shots it. It will be a tough match up but I have been playing tough guys so hopefully I can keep going."

That was Edmund's 10th match in 14 days. Result was in the balance - one set all and on serve - when injury struck. Cruel timing.

We saw Kyrgios really frustrated by an injury the other day and it is the same here.

As a player you do the best to manage your body and to have something go wrong out of your control it is horrible.

When it is not your fault, it is a hard pill to swallow really.

More treatment for Kyle Edmund, but he's not conceding just yet.

It's difficult to watch, though. He really looks uncomfortable.

Retirement is coming I think unless Edmund's neck loosens up. He can't compete.

Eeesh, Kyle Edmund looks uncomfortable out here now.

He sends a backhand over the baseline and hands three break points to Shapovalov.

The teenager is handed the break on a plate, with another long hit from the Briton.

The trainer comes back on for Edmund. Fingers crossed he can continue.
