That was brilliant from Edmund. He'll forget that he's tired now. He's got the feelgood factor going.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 0-2 Edmund*

Andreas Seppi swapped his shirt too at the end of the last set and is now in a blue and white number rather than the turquoise of the first two sets.

The Italian needs a little boost from somewhere as he is the one looking sluggish now. The first serve has disappeared. He can't win any cheap points and Edmund brings up two break points...

... and takes the first of them! The Briton strikes first in this third set. Four games in a row now for him.

Kyle should take confidence and hope because he hasn't played his best game but he's still one set all.

He needs to keep playing smart and the opportunities will come. Then things will suddenly start to click, he will get on a roll and be able to play full guns blazing.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 0-1 Edmund

The crowd are a little subdued at the start of this game but it could be a really crucial one. Seppi misses by a whisker with a lob which would have given him two break points but instead allows Edmund to level at 30-30.

Another error from Seppi and another ace from Edmund. He's ahead for the first time in this match.

  5. 'Get a big fist-pump out there early'published at 07:19 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Kyle showed emotion at the end of that set but he has to make sure he carries that on. It's easy to change your shirt, take a break and then the energy falls.

He needs to be fired up from the beginning and get a big fist-pump out there even on a routine serve to send a signal to the opponent that he's still there.

It doesn't sound much but it might mean the difference of Seppi missing one or two balls.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 Edmund

Kyle Edmund nips off court to compose himself and change his clothes. Seppi takes his cap off and sits motionless in his chair staring into space. Plenty to think about for the Italian after those final two games.

  7. Game and third set Nadalpublished at 07:16 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

    Nadal 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 Schwartzman

A huge ace to seal the third set for Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard is two-thirds of the way to booking a quarter-final meeting with Marin Cilic.

Diego Schwartzman isn't making it easy, but it's the number one seed who has the upper hand over on Rod Laver Arena.

James Stevenson: Seppi dipped in the last two games of the set and Edmund took advantage, as well he should. Level again. Come on Kyle!

Got it! A clip of the tape on a Seppi forehand and the ball drops into the tramlines.

A big fist pump and the noise level lifts on the Hisense Arena as Edmund levels up. A really good set of tennis from the British number two, that.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-6 Edmund

The perfect point from young Kedders! He finishes off at the net and brings up a first set point.

The serve saves Seppi first time but here comes another chance for Kyle Edmund. Set point number two...

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-6 Edmund

Nerveless from Seppi. He levels again at 30-30. Edmund tries his best to run down a forehand but can't get there on the slide. He hobbles a bit after too, worryingly.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-6 Edmund

Here we go. Two Edmund specials and he gets to 0-30 on the Seppi serve.

Big chance to close out the set.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-6 Edmund

Kyle Edmund gets away with one. Seppi levels at 30-30 and then with plenty of court to aim at he nets with a backhand down the line. Now Seppi misses off the backhand side for a fourth time in the game. Edmund didn't do much there and still won it.. Can he strike while Seppi is a little cold? For a second time the Italian is serving to stay in the set.

Unfortunately Kyle didn't start the way we wanted but he really lifted his energy and was smarter in his decision-making in not going for anything ridiculously risky, but he's gone off the boil again.

Seppi has also made a few mistakes and isn't quite at the level he was which is why we're back on serve.

Kyle's mindset looks like he's hoping his serve or his forehand will save him.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-5 Edmund*

Pressure, what pressure? Andreas Seppi is playing for his first Grand Slam quarter-final too remember but shows no nerves in serving out a game with the set on the line. I feel we may be heading for another tie-break.

Rafael Nadal has taken an early break in the third set to move into a 4-1 lead.

This fourth round is proving the trickiest test of the Spaniard's Australian Open so far, though - with Diego Schwartzman having taken a mammoth 80-minute second set.

Things are looking up for the travelling fans as "British superstars" Rudimental are about to take to the Live Stage at Melbourne Park. They could be just what Edmund needs to perk himself up a bit.

"Italia! Italia! Italia!" chant the boys in blue nearby, with understandable enthusiasm with the way their man is performing. Edmund does have the rather more restrained support of the watching Wimbledon chairman, however.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 4-5 Edmund

This match is all about the serve all of a sudden. Kyle Edmund reels off a love service game of his own, sealed with ace number 13.

Edmund was the one always playing catch-up in the first set. Now he has the chance to hunt for break and set points. Seppi to serve to stay in the set next.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 4-4 Edmund*

I may have been getting ahead of myself a little there in thinking Seppi might have dropped his level a little. He wins his next service game to love with the help of two more aces.

    Eyes back on Edmund.
