    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 1-2 Edmund

Kyle Edmund is still human, people. He's just double faulted.

But how does he respond? A huge ace. And another. That takes his tally up to 23.

Seppi has called for the trainer.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 1-1 Edmund

Fair play to Andreas Seppi. He doesn't give up and manages to scrape through. How long can he hold off Edmund?

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 0-1 Edmund

Break points fought off by Seppi. Back to deuce.

Back and forth, back and forth the ball goes but that's unplayable! A hammered backhand down the line brings up the third break point of the game.

  5. More break points for Edmundpublished at 07:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 0-1 Edmund

Kyle Edmund is just so confident right now. He skips around a second serve from Seppi and blasts another forehand. Seppi doesn't get there.

Now we're at 15-40. Edmund has two break points. This could all-but clinch it...

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 0-1 Edmund

This is just daft. A perfectly good return from Seppi is slapped past him faster than you can say quarter-final here I come.

A slight error at the net with a difficult volley for Edmund but that's not going to stop him powering on. The perfect start made to the set.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 0-0 Edmund*

Andreas Seppi returns to the court after being blown away in that set. Has he got another level?

Edmund will serve first in this set.

He starts off with an ace.

Kyle looks right in the ascendancy. It's been a brilliant turnaround.

The key is to put in a big effort early in the next set to keep his opponent down and save yourself a lot of trouble by not letting him back into the match.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-6 Edmund

A few stats on Kyle Edmund in that set.

He hit 13 winners to Seppi's four.

He won 91% of points on his first serve with five aces.

He won 100% of break points.

    Outstanding.

  10. Nadal breaks in fourthpublished at 07:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

    Nadal 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 2-1 Schwartzman

There's the breakthrough for Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard conquers the Diego Schwartzman serve to take an early lead in the fourth set.

Hold out from here on in and he'll face Marin Cilic in the quarter-final...

It looks like Schwartzman has been given a warning for some bad language, but I don't speak Spanish so couldn't possibly tell you what expletives slipped from the Argentine's mouth.

    Wow. Just wow.

What a way to seal it. Seppi puts a decent serve in wide to the forehand and Edmund just dispatches a winner back crosscourt.

If Kyle Edmund has played a better set than that in his career, I haven't seen it.

Oh my word. Now the winners come off the backhand. This one is pelted to Seppi's right and the Italian hardly moves.

Another backhand shot is too strong. 15-30. Can Edmund finish the set here and now?

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-5 Edmund

This is so impressive from Kyle Edmund. He has hit 11 winners in this set alone! It's only been going seven games and less than half an hour. The majority are coming off the forehand and it's no surprise with his shot from that side tipped as one of the biggest in the game.

He starts this game with a winner down the line and ends it with a serve that is too hot to handle. He's a game away from a 2-1 lead.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 2-4 Edmund*

Seppi digs in to make sure he remains just a break down but it's still a struggle for the 33-year-old.

With the help of Hawk-eye Edmund takes the first point by a matter of millimetres and then Seppi hits the tape with a groundstroke which bounces back on his side. Edmund goes for the big winner up the line but this one misses.

Kyle Edmund is 23. He has only been in a Grand Slam fourth round once before. He even lost the first set but since then he has seriously upped his game. Seppi doesn't get close to getting the break of serve back in this and that's all down to Edmund's big hitting.

Seppi was too good in the opener but now Edmund has completely turned the tables.

    Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 1-3 Edmund*

Everything is hitting the middle of Kyle Edmund's strings at the moment. Seppi fires down one of his fastest serves of the match and Edmund returns with a rasping backhand that lands right at the shoe laces.

Seppi edges to 40-30 and Edmund goes again off the backhand side. Close but this one just misses. Seppi just manages to get on the board in this set.

    *Seppi 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 0-3 Edmund

Both of those players had three-hour-plus five setters in the last round and at the moment it looks like Kyle Edmund has recovered better.

He's bouncing around the baseline, unleashing his much-improved serve and looks well on top.

Make that five games in a row for the British number two. Let's not get ahead of ourselves but...
