I've just been speaking to Liam Broady after his straight-set defeat in the opening rubber against Albert Ramos.

He said: "I won't lie, I was pretty nervous at first to come out and see the passion from the fans and from the team, it really takes your breath away but once I settled down I felt fantastic and it was a massive source of strength and confidence to know that I had those guys behind me out there.

"I'm pleased I did myself proud and I fought to the end but I'm absolutely gutted I didn't win. The thing to remember is that these guys are only human. I know they've got fantastic records on the clay but they are beatable."

Now then. Norrie breaks!

He's had that rather gifted to him by Roberto Bautista Agut, complete with a double fault at 0-40.

A sterling whip down the line from Cameron Norrie, and in the blink of an eye, he's got three break points to play with!

Norrie is sent spinning out wide, he tries to pick up the ball from the baseline - and it doesn't clear the net!

The first break of this third set goes Spain's way.

Bautista Agut aims down the line, and ends up dragging his forehand long. First break point, saved.

Up to the net comes Norrie but those forehands are coming out all wrong.

He gets on the board at 30-15 before a looping forehand drifts long. Two break points come up for Spain.

Britain's Cameron Norrie will serve to get the third set started.

A whippy cross court forehand from Cameron Norrie lands in by the tiniest of margins for 30-15.

Bautista Agut grumbles to himself but coughs up a double fault at a less than ideal moment. It's 30-30.

A super-swift hold to love for Norrie asks the question of Bautista Agut.

Is the air going out of the Cameron Norrie tyres? He's looking a bit forlorn now, head down after netting a forehand, and Bautista Agut wraps up a routine hold. Spain now just a game away from a two-set lead.

Super-tasty drop shot from Norrie outfoxes Bautista Agut but the Brit then chucks in another double fault and he's quickly down two break points. And the first one is taken as the Spaniard runs around a forehand and smacks it away.

That was much better from Cameron Norrie - it was like it all started to click back into place.

Those points were like turning the clock back an hour to the start of the match.

Norrie breaks back!

It's a brave move to come forward so early but it works, and he dabs over the gentlest of winners.

Tasty drop shot from Bautista Agut but it's chased down by Norrie, who surprises the Spaniard with his speed and he whips his return over the tramlines.

Another teasing rally, ended when Bautista Agut cannons a winner through Norrie, but the Brit wins a tussle at the net with an emphatic smash.
