  2. Game and first set - Mariapublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Svitolina 6-7 (3-7) Maria

Meanwhile, despite Elina Svitolina's terrific fightback from 5-2 down, she's now trailing in the match.

Germany's Tatjana Maria dominated the tie break to take the first set. She's hit just 12 unforced errors to Svitolina's 18 - although third seed Svitolina has hit more winners than her.

You can watch a stream of that match on the Red Button.

  5. 'Bummed not to see Murray'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    John McEnroe
    Three-time Wimbledon singles champion

On the one hand what does Murray have to lose, if you push yourself and you played the warm up events, he played three top players. It was sort of depressing to watch him limping, but you thought by the Australian Open, the magical six months he could compete, or play during the clay-court season.

When he played in the warm up games he looked physically pretty good, so I'm a little surprised - a little bummed.

Someone passes on Miyagi-like advice to Norrie.

    “Good energy.”

If he was solar-powered then that could have come from the returning sun, which I thought was done for the day.

Norrie does look revived after the second set setback.

You might be aware that Wimbledon is not the only big sporting tournament going on at the moment, with a little tournament in Russia taking place as well.

So we thought we'd challenge some five-a-side footballers to see how they would get on doing some of the fitness drills that a professional tennis player would...

  13. Karlovic defies age and strong windpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

With an average age of 37 years and eight months, Ivo Karlovic, 39, and Mikhail Youzhny, 36, treated Wimbledon fans to the oldest Grand Slam match for 40 years.

Not since the 1978 Australian Open, when Ken Rosewall met Sherwood Stewart with an average age of 38 years and four months, had two older players gone head to head at a major.

The Croat defied searing heat and a strong wind that played havoc with his usually lethal serve to win 4-6 7-5 7-6 (9-7) 6-3.

"I want to see how long I can go and hopefully my ranking will not go down, so I will be at the other Grand Slams," Karlovic said.

"I don't have an age I want to play to. As long as I am healthy and my ranking is up there, I don't see any reason why I should stop."

A nice little love hold for Cameron Norrie to keep things on serve.

In fact, that's his first love hold of the match.

  15. 'This could go all the way'published at 19:34 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Bedene 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 1-0 Norrie*

    John Lloyd
    Former GB Davis Cup captain

A fascinating encounter. Bedene is the one taking the ball on, being more aggressive going for the bigger shots, Norrie has been counter punching.

On the serves the edge goes to Bedene, but it is about the big points, so too close to call this match. Physically they are in both in great shape, so this could go all the way.

Aljaz Bedene steps in and fluffs an easy forehand into the net for 15-15.

Neither player is really grasping this match by the scruff of the neck, although Bedene conjures up a fine forehand to pass Norrie for 40-15.
