Kevin Anderson frames the first into the gutter. Can Roger Federer save the second?

    No!

He flops a forehand into the bottom of the net.

But the Swiss is now two break points down in the fourth...

    Djokovic is closing in.

A stunning return from the Serb take us to deuce.

Nishikori shrugs and gives him a thumbs up. Not much he can do.

    Here's match point.

A miscue from the giant South African, we haven't seen one of those in a while...

He dusts himself down and strings back-to-back winners together, before going after the top seed with his second serve.

Roger Federer can't help a volley from close range over the tape. Anderson holds.

    Woah, woah, woah.

That intervention from the umpire fires Djokovic up. There's a little more on his shots as he holds.

But then on the way back to his chair he shapes as if he's going to throw a ball at umpire Carlos Ramos. I've never seen anything like that before.

Anyway, he's a game away from the semi-final.

It is one thing playing head-to-head with Federer, it is another thing overtaking him. This is a real battle now.

    Federer 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 3-2 Anderson*

Well, Kevin Anderson's resilience has been seriously impressive today, but the South African can play a bit too - he draws Roger Federer into the net in a 16-stroke rally before picking off the Swiss with a passing forehand winner. Superb.

Federer cranks the serve up a notch, but that's an unbelievable backhand slice from Anderson! It skips low off the turf like a kite catching the breeze and running away from a small child... wonderful!

    Federer holds, just.

Kei Nishikori is putting up one final fight. A brilliant volley gets him to 30-30.

The umpire steps in. Time violation.

An error from Novak Djokovic. We haven't seen one of those in a while. It makes a difference too. Djokovic was close to 0-30, and surely the match, but instead it's 15-15.

From there Nishikori holds to just about stay in touch.

Kevin Anderson's baseball cap is all over the place, no chance of taking that wonky peak back to the shop. In other headgear news, Roger Federer's half-bandana looks to have soaked up barely a bead of sweat.

The Swiss clips a forehand on to the baseline and challenges an Anderson response that drops into almost exactly the same spot, so loses the point.

Anderson polishes off with his 11th ace of the quarter-final on Court One.

You have to stay positive. You always have to see the glass half full on a tennis court. It is the only way to win a match. If you look at the percentage of when you start a match, it is 50-50. But for Federer is it 50 + 1 because of the attitude.

Djokovic is making a point with every shot. He has a simple put away at the net that he could put anywhere but he hammers it into the ground, bouncing the ball up into the stand.

Now he thrashes a forehand winner.

Some might not like him but it's great to see Novak Djokovic back at this level.

Anderson needs to ultimately forget that he is playing the fourth set. Momentum is on his side but he can't overdo it. There is still a long way to go.
